Chapter 68

We are about an hour outside Franklin and Mama and Thomas are sleeping soundly.  I told Sophie what happened with Caroline and she was beyond pissed

Flashback

I called Sophie and she answered on the fourth ring
"Hey baby" she said
"Hey" I said sounding sullen
"Luke what's wrong you sound upset or annoyed" she asked
"I pissed at myself baby. When I tell you this you have to promise me you won't overreact or read way to much into it"  I said
"Luke your scaring me what have you done" she said sounding worried
"I kissed Caroline" I said quickly.
There was silence "Baby are you still there" I could hear sniffing
"How could you do this to me."
"Sophie it's not what you think. I was a mistake."
"A fucking mistake what like you tripped fell and your tongue landed in your ex's mouth, don't fucking patronise me Luke" she shouted
"Sophie please calm down it's not good for the baby"
"So now you think of the baby. Did you think of our baby when you where making out with her, did you" she yelled
"Sophie please listen."
"You have two minutes" she sniped
"I was waking out the the truck and at the door she had some mistletoe..."
"Oh such coincidence" she snapped
"...she said that we needed to kiss as it was tradition so I went to kiss her cheek and she turned and my lips landed on her lips. It lasted no more than 5 secs and then I ran out."
"Luke I have to go. I will speak to you when you come home" she said
"So...."  Was all I managed before she hung up

I got back to reality as I realised I was almost home. I woke up mama and Thomas and told them we were almost home.

We pulled into the runway and Sophie was standing on the porch with her arms crossed.
"Sophie looks mad" Thomas said
"Yeah buddy she is. I told her what happened with your mama" I said
"Oh Oh Daddy is in the shit"
"Thomas do not cuss that is not how we speak"
"Sorry Dad" He said with a sulk.
I stopped the truck and Thomas ran out and up to Sophie.
Mama said "honey please let her vent she is pissed just like you would be if the shoe was on your foot"
"I know mama I know."
I looked up and saw Thomas hugging Sophie. That melted my heart. I just hope I ain't screwed this up.
Mama walked in and hugged Sophie and whispered in her ear. She took Thomas with her. Sophie walked towards the truck
"Get in, we need to talk" was all she said as she sat i the passenger seat
I got in straight away
"Drive"
"Where to"
"Somewhere private"
I pulled away and headed to a secluded wooded area near my house
"Sophie I'm so sorry"
"And I'm horny" she said laughing
"So we are ok" I asked
"Yes we are but anything like that happens again and I am gone Luke you hear me"
"Of course" I said smiling
"Now come here I will show you what you will be missing"
