Chapter 44

"So this girl is 18 and pregnant?"

"Yup" I glanced back at him "but don't focus on her baby bump okay?"

"Alright, I just find that crazy"

"I know but sometimes it happens"

"Why are you bring her Oreos?" Matt asked me.

I laughed "because Emily texted me she was craving them and your father and I want to be as involved as we could be"

"Okay"

I parked the car and Matt and I both got out as we walked up to the house. I rang the doorbell and waited, the door moved back to show a man.

"Hi sir, I'm Katherine Homes here to see Emily?"

"Emily you got company" he yelled.

We walked in and I kept my eyes on him as Emily slowly walked down "dad this is Katherine, from the adoption agency" she told him.

"Whatever" he walked away.

"What are you doing here?"

"I brought you Oreos since you were craving" I smiled "this Matt, my son. Matt this is Emily"

"Nice to meet you"

"Um Emily, is your father always like that?" I asked her quietly.

"Sometimes yeah, I'm basically on my own"

"You know you could come stay with us. I know Harry won't mind, we just want what's best for you and the baby"

"I couldn't do that though"

"My dad wouldn't mind" Matt joins in.

"Are you sure Katherine? It'll be like having another teenager in the house"

I laughed "I'm more than sure sweetie, it's the least we can do" I tell her.

"Well okay, let me just pack some things"

"Do you need help?" I asked her.

"I could use some sure"

We all followed her upstairs as I helped her pack. I quietly mention to Matt to text Harry to let him know. We all got in the car.

"Would your father notice your gone?" Matt asked Emily.

"Probably not" my heart broke for this girl, her father barely cared about her and wasn't taking care of her the way she needed.

We got home and I showed Emily to her room so she can get settled as I went to talk to Harry.

"Babe we need to help her, she has no one"

"But how?"

"I don't know, can't you hire a homeschool teacher for her?" I asked him "she's only 18, she needs to graduate high school to go to college. Maybe we can help her to go college"

"Kat"

"Honey, she has no one taking care of her. I know you wouldn't mind her staying here and I know you wouldn't mind helping her out either"

"Let's just see how things go okay?"

I nodded as I went to check on Emily. She helped me cook dinner and when we sat down we got to know her a bit more.

"So Emily, what about college? Have you thought about attending?"

"Of course I thought about going but in my situation I don't think it's possible and I haven't even graduated high school"

"I'm just going to excuse myself" Matt read the room and decided to leave.

"Emily, we would like to help you" Harry leans forward "we want to help you graduate high school, we want to help you attend college"

"Are you guys serious?" She started tearing up.

"Yeah" I smiled as I got up and went to hug because I saw she needed it.

It felt so good to hug her and we're both crying and to help her.

"Thank you guys so much"

"It's the least we can do" we both said.

"I should go to bed but thank you guys so much"

I sat down on Harry's lap and wrapped my arm around his neck "we're such good people"

"No, you're a good person Kat. You wanted to help Emily"

"I love helping people and I know you do too which is why I love you and why I had her stay with us and ask you to help her"

"I love you so much love" he kissed me.

"I love you more babe" I kissed him.
