Betty waited ages for Archie to meet her for their date at 6pm. It was now 6:45pm and her patience was lacking. She constantly checked her phone and rang him nearly every minute to see where he was. She was dressed very smart especially for their date and was super excited for this one.
"See, I told you Archie Andrews was no good for you." Alice said entering the lounge.
"He's probably got caught up in football practice. I'm sure he'll be here any minute." Betty assured herself and her mom. Time went by and Betty was still waiting until her phone rang.
"Archie where are you? You're an hour late!" Betty yelled.
"Late for what?" Archie asked. Betty felt like she had been hit in the stomach.
"For our date..." Betty said.
"Oh no... Betty I'm so sorry, I totally forgot. I promised Veronica that I'd help her with her music piece for her audition for the school play." Archie admitted.
"Veronica? As in the girl you used to date?" Betty said.
"We never really dated. It was just one meal in pops." Archie lied.
"That's where you took me for our first date." Betty snapped.
"What's your problem tonight?" Archie asked.
"Really? Okay firstly you stand me up, secondly you ditch me for your ex girlfriend and lastly, you just suggested that our first date meant nothing to you." Betty answered.
"Look Betty I don't have time for this. I'll call you tomorrow." Archie said hanging up. Betty's eyes starting filling up with tears. She ran upstairs before her mom could see her upset. She couldn't believe Archie couldn't see anything wrong with hanging around with his ex girlfriend instead of his present girlfriend. Betty took her make-up off whilst she thought of all the horrible ideas of Archie and Veronica being together.
The next morning...
Betty woke up to a text message from Archie;
Betty I'm sorry about last night. I should've remembered. I promise I'll make up to you tonight, meet at pops?
Archie X
Betty wanted to reply straight away but didn't want to make him think he could get away with ditching her that easily so she replied back;
Meet me at lunch and we'll talk about it then.
Betty
It was finally lunch time and for once Archie was on time but not alone.
"Veronica?" Betty said.
"Hey Betty, I hope you don't mind but me and Archie are working on this thing and we are practicing during lunch so it's be easier if I came with him and then we could go straight to the music room." Veronica explained. Betty smiled and nodded even though she wanted to scream at Veronica for stealing her man.
"So what did you wanna talk about?" Archie asked.
"Just wanted to plan our date tonight." Betty said.
"How about 7 at pops, and I promise I won't be late." Archie said kissing Betty.
"Promise?"
"Promise." Archie replied.
"Look Archiekins, we better head to the music room before we miss our slot." Veronica interrupted.
"Archiekins?" Betty questioned.
"Oh yeah it's my nickname for him." Veronica snapped back. Betty felt this rush of anger flow through her. She tried to stay calm as it would be the right thing to do.
"See ya later Betty." Veronica said whilst walking back with Archie.
Again, Betty got changed. She wore the same outfit as the other night. She grabbed her car keys and headed for pops. As she pulled up she could see Archie sitting in a booth. She a sigh of relief knowing that he actually remembered. As she walked in her heart dropped. She saw Veronica sitting opposite Archie whilst drinking a milkshake. She tried to contain her anger but couldn't. She stormed over to them,
"Archie. A word." Betty snapped.
"Yeah... uh... sure." Archie said worriedly. They both walked over by the entrance to have more privacy.
"Why is she here Archie!?" Betty asked.
"The music thing." Archie said.
"Stop using that has an excuse! I know you still have feelings for her. They don't just go away! I'm sick of being second best, she's stuck to you, everywhere you go she's there!" Betty said.
"You're not second best." Archie assured.
"Really? You keep choosing her over me. I can't deal with it anymore Archie."
"What the hell has gotten in to you?" Archie yelled.
"I'm sick of being second to those I put first. I wish sometimes you were in my position to realise how I feel. I'm done Archie. We're done."
