The back-up (Beronica)

For a while Betty had been sending Veronica mixed signals. Did she like her or not? This was the billon dollar question Veronica needed the answer to.

"Are you still coming to the end of term party tonight?" Cheryl asked Veronica whilst handing out invites.

"Yeah, maybe tonight's the night she finally asks me." Veronica said.

"And what if she doesn't?"

"Then I'm over it." Veronica lied.

"Seriously? You've been hung up over this girl for nearly a year and you're just gonna completely forget about it in one night?" Cheryl asked.

"It'll be hard but if it's not meant to be then I have no choice but to leave it." Veronica replied.

"Speaking of the devil..." Cheryl said has Betty walked up to them.

"Veronica... are you going tonight?" Betty asked.

"Yeah of course, I've got my outfit planned already." Veronica assured.

"Okay great, how about we go to pops before and grab a burger?" Betty asked.

"I'd love to." Cheryl butted in.

"Actually Cheryl I was talking to Veronica..." Cheryl's face dropped and walked away.

"Sure, i'd love to." Veronica said whilst realising that this could be the night Betty finally tells her.

At pops...
"So, I know I've been quite distant recently but it's only because it's been crazy at the blue and gold at the moment." Betty said.

"Yeah, it's totally understandable. Can I ask you something?" Veronica said.

"Sure anything you want..."

"You know after that night we spent together after my birthday?" Betty nodded.

"Well you haven't actually confirmed-" Veronica got cut off by a girl jumping into the booth they were sitting in and kissing Betty on the lips.

"Veronica there's someone I'd like you to meet... this Toni, Toni this is my friend Veronica."

Veronica's heart burst, she felt like her whole life was just burning down right in front of her. She felt like a total embarrassment.

"Uh hi... nice to meet you." Veronica stuttered.

"Hi, I've heard so much about you!" Toni said.

"I wish I could say the same." Veronica muttered.

"So V what were you saying?"

"Oh nothing important now."

"Okay... we all ready to go to the party?" Betty smiled. Everyone agreed and left. Once they made it to Cheryl's house, Veronica straight away pulled Cheryl to the side and told her everything.

"Oh V, I'm so sorry, sometimes things just aren't meant to happen... just like you said earlier today, right?" Cheryl said trying to be supportive.

"Yeah... I guess, I just thought tonight was the night."

As the party went on, Veronica felt worse by the minute. She kept seeing Toni and Betty kissing and dancing together. She couldn't help but want to be in Toni's position. She knew she needed to get out of there, but she wanted to tell Betty how she really felt.

"Hey Betty can we talk?" Veronica yelled. Betty completely ignored her...

"Betty?!"

"Veronica what?! I'm trying to have a good night, what's wrong now!?" Betty screamed. Veronica froze until she ran outside ringing her mom to come and pick her up. Betty followed.

"Hi mom... can you come and pick me up? I'm ready to come home..." Veronica sniffled.

"Veronica wait." Betty said following her outside.

"What Betty? I'm going home, leave me alone." Veronica said.

"No wait, I know what you were going to ask me." Betty said.

"You do?"

"Yeah, you were wondering if I was going to confirm your place at the blue and gold paper right?" Betty said, clueless.

"Oh yeah of course Betty." Veronica shook her head. "I don't care anymore, don't you see it? I like you Betty! We spent an amazing night together and you act like nothing happened. I've been waiting here like a fool... waiting for you to tell you like me, I'm sick of being your back up call when your relationships fail. Stop using me has a way to get back at your ex's... because at the end of the day you're just as bad as them." Veronica announced.

"Veronica I know we had an amazing night but we were drunk, I'm sorry if led you on but you're my friend. I don't see you as anything more." Betty said.

"So why call me all the time and act like We're in a relationship, when you don't even want to be? Im gonna ask you for first and last time... do you wanna be with me?" Veronica asked. Betty froze, she had no reply.

"And there we have it. I can't believe I feel for you. Goodnight Betty." Veronica said just before her mom showed up.
