Archie and Betty had been spending a lot of time together, they saw each other nearly everyday. Betty had become more popular by the minute. They both started to like each other but never talked about it.

"Are you sure about this one?" Betty said trying on a prom dress. Usually Archie would've avoided shopping like the plague but again, it was a bet. Archie paid attention to every little thing.

"Eh next one." Archie replied.

"Okay, this is the last one." Betty said opening the curtain. Archie's mouth dropped as Betty walked out of the dressing room.

"I think this is it." Betty said.

"It's beautiful." Archie replied. Betty looked in shock as she didn't realise Archie would ever see her this way.

"Just your hair..."

"My hair?"

"Just no ponytail." Archie said grabbing his bag.

"Got it. Wait you're leaving?" Betty asked.

"Yeah, promised to meet the boys later." Archie said just before he saw the disappointment in Betty's face.

"Or we can go out for some food?" Archie suggested. Betty's face lit up and she nodded.

Betty ordered a strawberry milkshake whilst Archie ordered his usual, a burger.

"So again, why are you spending all this money on me. I can't be bought Archiekins." Betty said as she realised what she just called him. Archie didn't reply. He looked on his phone instead and remembered he was supposed to meet the boys at a party.

"Wanna go to a party?"

"Dressed like this? I don't think so." Betty said.

"Come on let the ponytail out and unbutton the collar on your top and you'll be fine." Archie said.

They both arrived to Reggie's house. Archie was at least 1 hour late. He parked his car on the drive and linked arms with Betty whilst they walked in.

"Well well well, look what the cat dragged in." Cheryl said to Betty. Betty was embarrassed has she didn't belong here.

"Cheryl why are you here?" Archie asked.

"I could ask the same question about her."

"Cheryl, for one night, can you not be a bitch. Betty deserves to be here as much as you do." Archie said defending Betty. Betty smiled then followed Archie into the kitchen.

"So Betty cooper finally makes a party." Reggie said walking into the kitchen.

"Hey reg, sorry I'm late, caught up with things." Archie said taking a sip out of his drink.

"We're playing seven minutes in heaven in a few minutes, and you two are definitely playing." Reggie said grabbing a bottle of whiskey from the cupboard.

"I guess we will." Archie said following Reggie into the lounge. Cheryl spinned the bottle and one end pointed to Betty and the other to Reggie. Archie got jealous even though he knew he shouldn't.

"Follow me..." Reggie said taking Betty by the arm. Archie wanted to stop it but he knew it would all come out, he saw Reggie put his arm around Betty's waist. He didn't know what it was but he had this burning jealousy inside him. All of a sudden he pulled Betty away.

"What the hell man?" Reggie said.

"Come on Betty we're leaving." They both walked out, Archie decided to drive Betty home. Once they finally reached Betty's, Archie wanted to talk to Betty and tell her everything.

"Betty there's something I need to tell you." Archie said.

"Can it Wait? I need to do some homework." Betty asked.

"It'll take one minute." Archie said, he could feel his heart pounding in his chest.

"But Archie I swear to god you make me fail this biology test tomorrow and you will be-" Betty got cut off by Archie's lips touching hers. She gasped but followed him. Archie couldn't tell her, he liked her too much to hurt her.

"Well... goodnight Betty."

"Goodnight Archie." Betty said getting out of the car.

The next day...
Archie was in the gym putting up some prom decorations has he was forced to be on the committee by Cheryl. Him and Reggie were talking about the prom and the bet. All of a sudden the gym door slammed open and in walked a crying Betty.

"Betty?"

"How could you?! I was a bet?! A bet?!" Betty yelled throwing a piece of paper with text messages between Reggie and Archie.

"Look Betty I can explain, you're not a bet to me anymore. It was a stupid pointless thing to do and I'm so sorry." Archie pleaded.

"You made a fool out of me, you actually made me think I could fit in for once. This is it, goodbye Archie, for good." Betty said still crying, walking out of the gym. Archie felt worse than he did before. He wished he never took that damn bet. Archie ran after her whilst Reggie and the football guys continued to joke about the situation.

"Betty please hear me out. Yes at first it was a bet but it's not anymore. We've spent time together and I really like you, the bet means nothing to me now, I swear." Archie said approaching Betty's car.

"Save it Archie. I'm done, I'm an idiot to think that people like me date people like you." Betty said getting in her car and driving off.
