Happy? (Beronica)

Veronica waited for Betty to pick her up and to take her out for some lunch. She wore her usual black pencil skirt with pearls. She heard a beep outside and saw Betty waiting. She rushed down and jumped in the car.

They both sat in the booth in pops. They were crazy for each other, they were known as B&V the best couple of Riverdale high. However that would all change by the end of this day.

"It feels like forever since we did anything." Veronica said.

"I know. I've been really busy with school and everything." Betty answered.

"How's Cheryl?" Veronica asked; Cheryl was Betty's ex girlfriend... they were somehow still in contact and Veronica felt like she wasn't good enough for Betty anymore.

"Really? You want to start on that?" Betty questioned.

"Yeah... I do because it's bothering me." Veronica stated.

"We are just friend Ronnie! Can't you tell?" Betty spoke a little bit louder.

"Okay, I believe you." Veronica lied as she didn't want to cause a scene in pops. After their date Betty dropped Veronica back home.

"I'll see you tomorrow yeah?" Betty asked.

"Yeah sure. Goodnight." Veronica said just before kissing Betty goodnight.

For the rest of the evening Veronica was worrying about Cheryl. They were good friends once but it ended badly. She couldn't help but feel like she wasn't any good for Betty... like Betty was just settling. Things were great before Cheryl came back, Veronica could tell Betty was completely over Cheryl but since they started talking again Veronica wasn't so sure.

"Mija... your father's going to be home late so we're having dinner Just for us to Okay?" Hermione asked walking into her room.

"I'm not hungry mom."

"Mija what's wrong?" Hermione asked as she could see that Ronnie had been crying.

"I'm stuck mom. I don't know what to do."

"Betty?"

"Yeah." Ronnie sniffled.

"Oh Mija, it's going to be okay. What's happened?" Hermione questioned whilst comforting Veronica.

"Her and Cheryl are back friends and it's almost like Betty is going back with her. They've been messaging each other and I'm so scared mom. I can't loose her." Veronica admitted.

"Veronica... you are better than this. You are a Lodge and most importantly a strong, beautiful woman."

"What should I do? Should I leave?"

"Only you can make that decision." Hermione said wiping the tears from Veronica's cheeks, she got up and walked over to the door as Veronica had stopped crying. But before she left, "One thing I will say... no one deserves to go to sleep at night not knowing why they were not good enough."

Veronica didn't know what to think about what her mom said. She knew what she had to do but she didn't want too. It was getting late and she decided to go for a walk. She grabbed her coat and headed out.

She walked down the road by her house to clear her head but it did not help one bit due to a surprise waiting at the end of the street. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. It was Betty and Cheryl together having a milkshake in Betty's car. Veronica stormed over.

"What the hell?!" Veronica yelled.

They both looked up in shock.

"Veronica we're just having a catch up! I promise!" Betty replied truthfully getting out of the car.

"No, that's it! I can't be in your life if you will always want her!" Veronica said.

"Please Veronica don't do this." Betty said fully knowing what was going to happen next.

"We're just friends, Ronnie." Cheryl added.

"Oh yeah... till when though?"

"Come on please." Betty pleaded.

"I can't. You two really deserve each other. Have a good life. I hope your happy Cheryl." Veronica said walking away from the disappointment.

She could feel her heart race but also everything around felt like it was diminishing just like her relationship. She knew she couldn't compete with Cheryl.
