Team work (Bughead)

Betty sat in English class trying to stay focused on the work but kept getting distracted by Archie. She had a huge crush on him since pre-school. They were such great friends and if they were to date it wouldn't work due to Betty not wanting to ruin the friendship. Not only that, she knew he liked her best friend Veronica. Her thoughts got interrupted.

"Uh Betty Cooper..." The teacher called. Betty looked up and saw all eyes on her.

"Yes sir?"

"You're partnered with Jughead Jones for the summers assignment." Betty's heart sank, she hated Jughead Jones. Not only because he was a serpent but because he had this cynical wit to him and was super lazy but somehow had top grades. It's almost as if he doesn't try. The bell rang and Betty started to leave but got stopped at the door.

"Well nice to meet you Betty Cooper." Jughead said.

"Look, how about we just leave the work to me and you just get on with your summer." Betty suggested trying to move away from Jughead.

"How about we work together... you know like what we should be doing anyway."

"Fine, we meet at Pops every night at 6. Don't be late. I mean it." Betty said.

"Sure, got it. 6 at Pops." Jughead said fixing his hat on his head.

5:30pm

"Are you sure you don't want me to talk to Principle Wetherbee about swapping partners?" Alice asked.

"No mom, I can deal with a serpent. I don't even think he's that dangerous. He's just annoying. The faster this assignment is done, the better." Betty said whilst grabbing her file and bag.

Betty sat in Pops alone waiting for Jughead, whom was 20 minutes late. She knew this would happen. She called Archie and asked if he had seen Jughead. There was no answer. She decided to start the project without him. She decided to base the project on the book 'In Cold Blood' by Truman Capote. She wanted this to be over already and she had only just begun. Two hours later and all of a sudden her phone rang, it was Archie.

"Hey Betty what's up?"

"Have you seen Jughead?" Betty asked.

"He's with the serpents. He just left my house about 5 minutes ago." Archie said.

"Where do they meet?"

"Round the back of the drive-in." Archie said.

"Thanks Arch, I'll call you later." Betty said packing her things away and rushing over to the drive-in.

Betty finally found where he was. He was inside a bar that was around the corner of the drive-in, she walked in. It was packed with Serpents, there was smoke from cigarettes covering the air. Betty couldn't help but cough. All eyes were on Betty has she walked through the bar, she finally found Jughead by the pool table with a girl called Toni.

"So you ditch the assignment for a date." Betty yelled over the music. Jughead and Toni's head raised up.

"You found me." He replied just before Toni walked away. 

"That's all you can say? I waited in Pops for nearly 2 hours. And all you can say is 'You found me'?" Betty yelled.

"Come on, chill, I forgot. Maybe you should loosen that ponytail. Have fun, it's the first day of summer and you're already cracking down on homework that's not even due for another 6 weeks. Why don't you grab a pool cue over there and help me win this game?" Jughead asked. Betty didn't know what to do. She sighed just before following Jughead's instructions. Betty started to have fun, she would have never expected it to be with Jughead Jones, a serpent. Somehow she started getting the same feeling in her stomach as she did when she sees Archie. 

"See Betty, you can have fun. You just need to know when to cut the homework off and turn on the fun side of you." Jughead said grabbing Betty a soda.

"You're not so bad yourself." Betty smirked.

"How about we make a deal?" Jughead asked.

"Go on..."

"How about every night we meet at Pops at 5pm, do some work for 2 hours then go out and actually have fun." He suggested.

"Are you implying a date Jughead Jones?" Betty smirked.

"No... just having some innocent fun whilst getting some work done with good company on a weeknight isn't a date to me." Jughead assured.

"Then what is?" Betty asked.

"Meet me on Saturday at the drive-in and you'll find out." Jughead said walking back over to the pool table.
