Let Down

For a while, Betty had not been herself due to the fact she had just gone through a break up. She tried to keep a brave face every time she saw someone in school but she couldn't keep it up forever.

"Has anyone heard from Betty today?" Veronica asked the group.

"No, she's been MIA since the weekend. I think she still needs some space after... you know... bughead ended." Kevin replied.

"She's still hung up on him." Cheryl said.

"Speak of the devil." Veronica said looking at jughead by his locker looking guilty.

"He shouldn't have cheated on her, its has simple has that." Cheryl added.

"Well he did and I need to get over it." Betty said walking into the conversation. Veronica and the group looked shock due to not seeing Betty for nearly a week.

"How you hanging up B?" Veronica asked.

"Ever feel like you're drowning and there's no one there to save you? Well that pretty much sums it up." Betty said, sipping her coffee.

"How about we have some girl time?" Cheryl offered.

"I don't think I even wanna go out. Everyone knew about it, everyone knew that he slept with Toni and no one told me. Including you guys. I'm still hurt." Betty frowned.

"But you're here with us now." Kevin said. Betty sighed, "I better go before I'm late for class." Betty said.

"We need to get her out more. She's stuck inside sobbing away at jughead. Why don't we set her up with a date?" Cheryl suggested.

"Don't you think it's too soon?" Kevin said.

"I think Cheryl's right. I mean she's never been treated properly, jughead cheated on her so did chuck and things aren't right at home with her right now. She needs a fresh start and we are going to give it to her. Kevin make sure she's at Pops at 8pm tonight. Don't be late!" Veronica said rushing off to make plans.

8pm came and Kevin was able to get Betty there on time.
"Remind me why we're here?" Betty asked. 

"Because I need you're help with finding a suitable date to homecoming." Kevin lied.

"Right even though moose has already asked you?" Betty suspected that something was going on.

"Oh look, it's V." Kevin said distracting Betty.

"Oh my god." Betty muttered has she saw V with Archie Andrews.

"Hey B, look who I found." Veronica said linking arms with Archie.

"Hey Betty, apparently we're on a date." Archie joked. Betty sighed and could feel her temper rising. She got up and stormed outside.

"Give me a sec." Veronica said whilst Archie and Kevin ate the leftover food.

"Betty what's wrong?"

"Don't you get it?"

"No Betty I don't! You've been so distant lately that I don't even know what's going on with you. It's like you've just left town."

"In case you hadn't noticed I've been hurt Veronica, by the people I love the most. My boyfriend, my friends, you all lied to me. So I apologise if I seem distant, it's because I don't wanna get hurt again, the closer I get to someone the more hurt there will be in the end for me. You think that some date will fix everything? You're wrong. I'm going back home, don't call me tonight or tomorrow or the day after. Got the message?" Betty said, Veronica replied with a slow nod whilst tears filled her eyes.

"That goes for everyone, especially you. Goodnight Veronica." Betty said whilst walking away. Veronica stood there in the rain whilst processing everything that just happened. She'd lost her best friend and it was all her fault. Her thoughts got interrupted due to Kevin coming outside.

"Come on V, your foods here. Where's Betty?" Kevin asked.

"She's gone Kev, let's go." Veronica replied.
