Falling out of love (Choni)

Toni was driving home after her 10 hour shift at pops diner. Her phone was going crazy... text messages from her girlfriend, Cheryl. Cheryl was the love of her life. Cheryl had everything she'd ever wanted in a girl. She was funny, beautiful, caring and the list went on. But for the past couple of days she didn't feel the same way for Cheryl as she did before. Before going home, she went to go and see her friend, Sweet Pea.

"Hey Toni, you okay? You look a little down?" Sweet Pea asked.

"Me? Yeah I'm fine." Toni lied.

"You can't lie to me Toni."

"I don't know. I'm confused." Toni said has a voice broke. Sweet Pea hugged her whilst tears flooded her cheeks. "I'm a horrible person."

"What have you done this time?" He asked.

"I don't have feelings for her anymore." Toni stated. Sweet pea looked in shock.

"How?... why?" He asked.

"We've had a rocky few weeks and I just can't trust her after she reached out to her ex. I've been hurt too many times before. Even you know that sweet pea. Or is it the fact that I'm leaving in two months? Maybe I'm just not cut out for relationships."

"I knew something was up. Have you told her?"

"I was going to meet up with her in the morning. But I know she's going to be so angry with me." Toni said.

"Sometimes you have to let go. You're hurting her more by not being honest. There will be another time, another place and another person for both of you. It was a good few months right?"

"Of course, I actually had someone that cared for me. That checked up on me every day." Toni said as she started to cry again.

"Uh excuse me... you have me?" Sweet Pea joked. Toni laughed giving her a break from the pain she was feeling.

"Thanks Sweet Pea." She muttered.

"It's going to be okay, maybe not today or tonight but tomorrow is a new day. And I'm going to be here waiting for you when it starts to get tough just like I always have been." He said just before hugging her goodbye. Toni headed home and slept through the whole night.

She woke up from a knock on the door. She grabbed her hoodie and walked over to the door. She opened it and was confronted by Cheryl.

"Good morning beautiful. I brought breakfast." Cheryl said kissing her girlfriend on the cheek and then rushed into the kitchen. Toni rubbed her eyes as she was still half asleep. Then she remembered what she had to do today. Her heart sunk.

"Cheryl can we talk?" Toni said, stopping the red bombshell from making breakfast.

"Yeah sure. Everything okay?" Cheryl asked walking over to Toni.

"I don't know how to say this but-"

"You're ending us aren't you?" Cheryl panicked.

"It's not you. I promise. I've lost feelings. And I've tried so hard to get them back but I just can't." Toni stated. Cheryl's faced turned to confused. 

"How can a girl change her feelings so quick?" Cheryl said whilst sitting down in the sofa. "There must be one reason." Cheryl added.

"I can't think of just one main issue. Just my feelings went and it could be because of anything like the fact that I'm leaving town in two months or that you reached out to your ex. Look Cheryl, I still want to be your friend and be there for you. Maybe we rushed into this, there could be a million reasons why but the important thing is that we still remain good friends right?" Toni suggested.

"No. No I can't live my life being best friends with a girl who I love that doesn't love me back. A girl who I'd do anything for. A girl who broke my heart." Cheryl admitted has her voice broke. She grabbed her bag and headed for the door.

"Cheryl wait." Toni said stopping the door from opening.

"It's Sweet Pea isn't it. Betty said she saw you in his trailer last night. When she was in Jugheads." Cheryl said wiping the tears from her cheek.

"What?! No! I went over because I needed his advice. He's my best friend Cheryl." Toni defended. 

"Whatever. Leave me alone until I'm ready to speak to you. Enjoy the breakfast." Cheryl said storming out of the trailer. Toni didn't want it to end this way, she was living in a nightmare.
