For ages, Archie wanted to tell Jughead that he was ready to go on a date. But he couldn't do it. They had been friends for over a year and everyone would say that they were more than friends. And Archie knew that, they didn't act like 'just friends' But Archie would always deny it along with Jughead whenever someone would ask.
"Can you just ask him already? It's boring me now." Kevin said to Archie.
"I don't know what you're talking about Kev." Archie said.
"We all know you like him. So just go for it. And a little birdy told me that he likes you back." Cheryl said, twisting the truth.
"Come on Arch. What's the worse that can happen?" Betty said.
"Yeah listen to Betty, the worse thing that can happen is... he rejects you and you're friendship is over." Ronnie added.
Archie looked in worry, "No it won't Archie." Betty said, trying to assure Archie.
"Okay, I'll do it after school." Archie said had the bell rang.
Archie's last class was with Jughead. He couldn't stop shaking with nerves. He could do it with any girl but when it comes down to his best friend, Jughead. He couldn't just go up and ask.
"Hey Jug, can we talk?" Archie asked after class.
"Yeah sure what's up Arch?"
"So I don't know how to say this but..."
"Just spit it out Archie!" Jughead said, getting impatient.
"Would you like to go on a date with me tonight?" Archie finally said. Jughead paused for a moment, he looked taken back.
"Sure, pops at 6?" Jughead agreed.
A sigh of relief came over Archie, "Yeah sounds great! See you tonight." Archie said.
Archie rushed home, he already planned his outfit, he wanted to look nice for their first date. He decided to keep it causal. His dad dropped him off whilst Jughead drive his bike there. Archie walked into pops and saw Jughead sitting at a booth.
"Finally." Jughead said whisky sipping a strawberry milkshake.
"You ordered?" Archie asked.
"Oh no, I'm always here so pops keep me hydrated." He joked.
"What you having guys?" Pop asked.
"I'll have a cheeseburger pop." Archie ordered.
"I'll have my regular." Jug said.
"So Jug that's a triple cheeseburger with cheesy fries and a extra hot dog on the side?" Pop asked whilst Archie stared in shock.
"Yup, perfect. Thanks pop."
"Jeeze Jug. Never realised you had such a big stomach." Archie said.
"I just love food." Jughead said. "Anyway, how long would it have taken you to ask me out if the gang didn't make you?" Jughead asked.
"You knew about that?"
"Can you really trust Kevin's and Ronnies mouths?"
"Yeah thats true, you were bound to find out anyway."
"I could already tell, Archie you fell hard for me." Jughead joked.
"I did not, what about you? Did you fancy me?" Archie asked.
"Well... there was a little something I guess." Jughead said.
After a few more milkshakes, it was time to call it a night.
"Well it has been an honour Archie Andrews." Jughead said.
"So... where do we go from here?" Archie asked.
"Maybe, we should just take things slow and see where it takes us. We don't want to rush it otherwise our friendship will be ruined. For good." Jughead said, talking some sense.
"Okay, that sounds like a plan." Archie agreed. They both stood up to walk outside.
"Night pop!" Jughead said.
"Want a ride home?" Jughead asked.
"Sure."
Archie's House...
"Well thanks for tonight." Archie said. He wanted to kiss Jughead but again he didn't want to rush things."Goodnight Archie, round two this weekend." Jughead said leaving on his bike. Archie was finally glad he had asked Jughead out. Even if this date did ruin their friendship, Archie didn't care, all he cared about now was his and Jugheads relationship.
