It was finally the last day of school for Christmas break. Today was the day the group exchanged gifts as they wouldn't see each other on Christmas day.
"Okay Betty, here's mine." Archie said handing over a small box. She opened it up and found a old picture of her and Archie has kids.
"Oh Archie, I love it. Thank you!" Betty said.
Everyone had given their presents except from Veronica to Betty.
"Where Veronica?" Kevin asked.
"She said she'd be here, I mean she said she'd be late but where is she?!" Cheryl said.
"I don't know, I haven't heard anything from her today." Betty said worried.
Veronica and Betty had just broken up so Veronica was still hurt, she distanced herself from the group and from society. She didn't leave her house, only to go to school. It was the most horrible break up Riverdale had ever seen. Betty on the other hand was ready to move on, she preferred being single and wasn't ready to have a committed relationship with a girl just yet. This was the main reason why Veronica never committed herself to someone, she would always get the wrong end to a relationship.
"I haven't heard of her at all, not since the break up." Archie said.
"Last time I saw her she was going to the bathroom." Josie added.
"Maybe you should go and find her Betty." Jughead said.
"Her ex?" Archie questioned.
"She might open up to you?" Kevin said.
"Fine, I'll be back." Betty said getting up. She walked down the corridor and walked in to the ladies bathroom. She saw one door locked and guessed it was Veronica.
"V? Everything okay?" Betty asked.
"Betty? Is that you?" Veronica snuffled.
"Yeah, I know you're struggling V." Betty said. "You've been ignoring me." Betty added. The door lock moved and out came a upset Veronica. Her eyes were all puffy and half her makeup was smudged. Tears filled her face whilst Betty stood there.
"I don't know what to do. I'm lost, I know I need to move on Betty but I can't. You hurt me." Veronica said.
"Yeah I know what I did was wrong. I shouldn't of left you hanging. When you said you loved me I couldn't lie to you and say it back. Look maybe my mom was right, this is a phase, you were my first proper girlfriend. It was nice but I couldn't give you what you needed." Betty explained making things worse.
"All I wanted was someone to be there for me through thick and thin. You can't just expect someone to get over you in a day Betty. The wounds are still raw." Veronica cried.
"Then what do you want Veronica?! Right now what do you want?" Betty yelled.
"I want to someone to hug me and tell me everything is going to be okay, even if it's not, I just need something." Veronica yelled. There was silence for about a minute before Betty wrapped her arms around a tearful Veronica. She knew just hugging her would make her feel better, and she knew Veronica needed Betty more now than ever before.
"It's going to be okay, I promise." Betty whispered. Betty pulled away and grabbed a small gift box out of her bag.
"I got this before everything happened." She handed it to Veronica. She opened it and found a a small round locket with the initial V carved into it. She opened the small doors and found a picture of them both. It was from one of the first days Veronica arrived at Riverdale.
"I love it." Veronica said, she began to feel better even though Betty knew, in a way, she was leading her on, once again. But all that mattered to her was that Veronica was okay. For now.
