"Are you sure you want to come with me this weekend?" Veronica asked her girlfriend, Clarissa.

"Of course, why wouldn't I? I wanna meet your old friends and maybe get a bit of dirt about you." Clarissa winked.

"I haven't seen these people in 5 years, it's going to be weird." Veronica said nervously packing her bag.

"Look, there's nothing to worry about, I'm going to be by your side the whole way through it. I promise." Clarissa said calming a worried Veronica down.
Veronica couldn't help but worry whether her ex-girlfriend, Cheryl, was going to attend or not. Their relationship ended so badly. It took Veronica at least a whole year to not have feelings for her anymore or have any anger over it. Their relationship was toxic and so many people warned Veronica about it.

The next morning...
Veronica didn't sleep all night due to her nerves, she was a mess.

"Ready babe?" Clarissa called from downstairs.

"Yeah just a minute!" Veronica yelled whilst placing her last pearl earring in. She grabbed her suitcase and made her way downstairs.

The whole journey there Veronica couldn't help but think of what to say if she saw Cheryl, and how she would explain who she was to Clarissa. She never brought her up as it brought bad memories back.

"And.... turn left... and then... turn right... ah! There it is, just as I remember, Archiekins house." Veronica directed. Clarissa grabbed the bags out of the car  whilst Veronica walked up the stairs towards the front door. She pressed the door bell and Betty answered.

"Ronnie!!" Betty yelled whilst hugging Veronica. Archie rushed to the door along with Jughead and Josie.

"Come on in." Archie said.

After food, they all decided to sit outside with a few drinks and some photo albums.

"Hang on Betty Cooper! What is that on your finger?!" Veronica questioned.

"I guess now would be the perfect time to tell you... me and Jug are getting married!" Betty said excitedly.

"Well congratulations." A voice said from behind. Everyone turned around and found Cheryl standing, holding a present.

"Cheryl!" Josie yelled. Everyone rushed up to her whilst Veronica and Clarissa remained seated. In the meantime, Veronica's heart was sinking deeper and deeper. Finally, Cheryl grabbed a chair and joined in with everyone, except for Veronica. She hasn't even said hi.

"Oh my god! Look! Prom photos!" Josie said whilst Jug and Archie sighed. There was pictures of Archie and Betty, one of Betty and Jug and finally one of Cheryl and Veronica kissing. The photos got passed along. Clarissa's face was confused whilst Veronica's was nearly filling up with tears. She ran off into the bathroom, Cheryl followed.

Veronica dried her eyes in the bathroom with some tissue. She didn't know what came over her. All of a sudden Cheryl walked in.

"Everything okay?" Cheryl asked.

"Don't act like you care." Veronica said fixing her makeup.

"Just because things ended badly with us it doesn't mean I don't care about you now."

"Oh really? Do you recall you saying that you 'don't care about me and my issues anymore'?" Veronica asked. Cheryl didn't answer. Veronica scoffed.

"So typical."

"What do you expect me to say?" Cheryl yelled.

"I don't know... maybe that you're sorry for treating me like shit? For leaving me when I needed you the most? You just left me, with no reason or goodbye."

"I know but we were so young. I didn't know what I wanted nor did you, I don't think I wanted a relationship." Cheryl explained.

"That's the thing, it was always on your terms and you always thought you knew what was best for me. I was my own person Cheryl! I was just some second best booty call to you. You made me feel like the bad person all the time when really it was you."

"Is that why you're still upset with me?" Cheryl asked.

"You don't remember do you?" Cheryl looked down, not knowing what Veronica was on about.

"You promised me, you'd never leave no matter how bad things got. And look where we are now. You broke a promise that meant so much to me Cheryl. You showed who you truly were, toxic. You broke me Cheryl." Veronica said whilst leaving he bathroom.

Cheryl didn't realise how bad she had hurt Veronica in the past and how bad it was now. She knew there was nothing she could say or do that could get her forgiveness.
