Hulk's Obsession (Part 1)

One Shot #19

Vision's POV

Wanda and Bruce just had an altercation a few minutes ago that caused him to get angry and Hulk out. During that process, Hulk took Wanda and fled to who knows where. Our sources tell us they're in an abandoned field outside of city limits. We use the information we have and hope that we find them in time. We also hope that Hulk doesn't lash out at Wanda and hurt her physically. Not all of the Avengers are have chosen to go after Hulk and Wanda. Thor and Steve are staying behind to keep watch of the radars while we're gone. Nick Fury normally does so for us, but he's away on business right now. He'll be back next week though. Talk about bad timing.

 Twenty minutes later...

The rest of us Avengers arrive at the abandoned field to find an unconscious Wanda with deep bruises around her neck and throat area. Bruce is half naked and paralyzed with fear. He's probably only just now realized what he's done. A small part of me sympathizes for him, but for the most part, I'm just really angry. I thought that Bruce had the Hulk under control now, but apparently he doesn't. I'm so tempted to wring him around the neck but that wouldn't solve anything. In fact, it would just agitate Bruce and make him Hulk out again. I simply take a deep breath and gather myself before asking the obvious question. "Bruce, what the hell happened here?" I can tell he's on the verge of a panic attack, though no one comforts him other than Natasha. She's not doing it out of love though, she's doing it because she's the best at preventing him from Hulking out.

"Vision, I don't know what happened. Hulk has had this obsession with Wanda lately and he's been dying to act on it. He seems to... love her and is upset that she doesn't replicate those feelings for him." I glare at him. "Bruce, you can't force someone to love someone else. Love comes naturally." He sighs. "I know that Vision. I also know that you really want to kill me right now but you're too nice to act on those feelings." "Yeah you're right about that. Look, when Wanda wakes up, I don't want you anywhere near her." His eyes flicker to green and Hulk's voice lashes out. "Don't tell me what to do." Natasha goes through trying to calm him down all over again. I simply scoop Wanda's limp and bruised body up into my arms and fly us back to Stark Tower without saying a word to anyone. I bring her to Steve who helps me find a doctor to treat her injuries and watch over her in the infirmary. I spend the next few hours torturing myself mentally before getting news from Clint that she's woken up. I dash down there and am quite relieved to see that Wanda has indeed woken up.

"Wanda, how are you feeling?" She gives me a weak smile and coughs. "I feel like crap. Hulk choked me, sucked the energy right out of me, and I have to be on an oxygen machine for the next couple of days." Fear then begins to set in her eyes. "Please promise me you'll keep Bruce away from me. I can't trust him right now. I'm normally not afraid of anyone... but he almost killed me. Bruce was my friend... even Hulk was at one point too. I don't know what went wrong." Tears glaze her eyes and one happens to slip down her cheek. I wipe it away with my thumb. "Wanda, I'm so sorry that this happened to you. I'm even more sorry that I couldn't be there to stop it before the damage was done." I hang my head down in shame. "Viz, none of this was your fault, it was Bruce's. He needs to train to get Hulk under control again. He had him under control for awhile. You know what the funny thing is? I don't understand how or why Hulk is obsessed with me."

"Wanda, did you ever think that Hulk might be in love with you?" She looks at me like I'm insane. "Viz, are you listening to yourself? You're saying that a big, green monster is in love with me." I chuckle, though no humor is in it. "I know it sounds crazy, but he must have gotten those feelings from somewhere... or rather someone." Wanda is smart so she's able to put two and two together. "You're saying that Bruce has feelings for me, aren't you?" I nod. "Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying." Shock washes over her face. "I don't know what to say." "I don't either." Silence washes over us for a little while before I break it. "Wanda, you should get some rest. You need to restore your energy." She sighs and begins to doze off, falling asleep rather quickly. I kiss her forehead and begin to make my way to leave when Wanda calls out my name. "Yes Wanda?" She whimpers, causing my heart to yearn for her. "Will you stay... please?" "For you Wanda, anything." I climb into bed with her and wrap my arms around her. I hold her while she sleeps. I even eventually begin to doze off and fall asleep myself. Today's events have taken a toll on the both of us.
