23. June ❀ age 5
Eddie Kaspbrak sat on his bed, watching how his mother lifted lego pieces into a trashbag. His mother, who had brown short hair, chubby face and a round body, let out grunts as she squat down to pick up legos.
"What are you doing, mommy?" Eddie asked.
"These are dangerous, Eddie bear. You could step on them and it can go through your feet. Your feet are very sensitive. You don't want to lose your leg, don't you?" she asked and walked closer to Eddie and caressed his cheek.
"Of course not, mommy" Eddie replied.
"That's a good boy. Just sit there, and I'll get these dangerous toys cleaned, okay?"
Eddie nodded smiling. His mother kissed his forehead and looked at Eddie for a while, until tapping his back a bit. "Straighten your posture. It will bite you back if you sit like an old man now"
Eddie quickly sat up straight. He didn't want to sit like an old man.
He continued watching his mother to clean up his room. It became kinda boring for the young Eddie, who wanted to explore the world with his friend, Richie.
Richie lived next door, and that's how the two met.
"Mommy, can I go outside to play with Richie?" he asked.
"i don't think so, no...not now"
"But I'm bored, mommy" Eddie pleaded.
His mother turned around and sighed loudly. "Okay. But only for ten minutes"
"I don't know how long is that?" Eddie said while jumping down from the bed.
"I'll just go yell you inside. And remember, no climbing in trees, no laying on grass and don't go in Richie's house"
"Why not?"
"I don't want you to get an infection from there"his mother said sharply, causing Eddie to flinch a bit.
"okay mommy. I promise" eddie said quietly and walked calmly out of the room, since his mother had said that if he ran inside the house, he could slip over and hit his head. Or fall down the stairs and break a leg or worse, paralyze. Or the worst, die.
Eddie went the stairs down, one step in a time. He gripped the railing hard as he made small steps, until he finally was down. He put on his shoes and walked out of the door, running across the yard to the fence, what was broken at one point. Eddie carefully crawled under the fence and was now standing on the Tozier's backyard. He looked around the big yard, until carefully running to the door and knocking on it.
There were few steps behind the door, until it opened, revealing Richie's mom.
"Hello Eddie! What a nice surprise this is! Where's your mother?" she asked, kneeling down a bit.
"She's cleaning my room. I was thinking if Richie's ho-"
"EDDIE!" Richie's happy voice yelled from the stairs, which were in the hallway, of the Tozier house.
"RICHIE!" Eddie yelled back as he saw his black haired friend ran to him and embrace him in a hug.
Eddie remembered what his mother had said about germs coming off from other people and Eddie shouldn't hug everyone who comes in his way. But Richie was an exception. Richie didn't have dangerous germs that could cause Eddie to have a stroke, or paralyze him, or kill him.
Richie was his best friend, so he didn't have any germs.
"I need to show you something, Eddie!" richie pulled away from the hug and quickly pulled on his shoes.
He ran pass Eddie, grabbing Eddie's hand at the same time. He led them to Richie's backyard, to a big hole.
"I dug this yesterday! Someday it will lead to China!" Richie explained excitedly.
"Really? Would you take with me?" Eddie asked.
"Of course! You'll come everywhere with me!" Richie nodded and kneed down next to the hole. "Look at it Eddie. It's already so big"
Eddie smiled hesitantly and stepped back a bit. It was a big hole. It was almost like a pit. Like a small pit and a big hole. It was dark and it smelled like dirt. Everything what Eddie's mom wanted away from Eddie.
Richie leaned over the edge and looked at it.
"Be careful Richie" Eddie squealed and slightly gripped Richie's shirt. Richie, who lifted his glasses up on his nose, smiled and got up. He grabbed Eddie's hand and gave it a squeeze.
"It's okay Eddie. It's not dangerous. Besides, I'll go get a ladder in there, so when I dig it, I can just climb the ladder up" Richie comforted Eddie, who nodded.
"Okay...promise me that you won't get trapped in there" Eddie said like a little child, because he was one. He was five.
"I promise through my glasses" Richie grinned widely.
Eddie giggled.
"EDDIE BEAR! COME HOME!" eddie's mother's voice yelled from the distance. Eddie flinched. "If mommy finds out that I'm here, I'm going to have to spend tomorrow at the pharmacy" Eddie whispered and gave Richie. "Bye bye Richie"
"Bye Eddie" Richie smirked and watched how Eddie ran clumsily to the fence and crawled under it.
The boy with the glasses, shook his head slightly and turned back to his masterpiece in front of him. He tilted his head a bit, until he nodded and jumped to the bottom of the pit.
It made a 'thud' noise as he landed no the soft soil. He could easily still climb out of the pit, by making small stairs on the pit's sides. Richie sat there, looking up at the sky and sighed sadly.
Richie didn't like Eddie's mom. Eddie's mom was too protective and didn't let Eddie do anything. It made Richie sad, because he wanted to show so many things to Eddie. He wanted to show the sky at night. How beautiful it was. He wanted to show Eddie the park, where's the lake and where is ducks what they could feed. He wanted to take Eddie to a carnival with him and Richie's big sister. He wanted Eddie to come to his house and see his room. He wanted to go to Eddie's place and see his room too.
But he couldn't do that because Eddie's mom, Sonia Kaspbrak, wouldn't let Eddie do that.
Richie sighed and climbed out from the pit and cleaned his trousers a bit from the dirt.
I guess he could show these things to Eddie when they were older.
