November  age 20

continued from the last chapter

So there Richie laid. On the couch, a small blanket on his body, even though it didn't even reach to his toes. But he could not care about his comfortableness one bit right now. He looked up at the ceiling, listening to the rain which was hitting against the window. The droplets created shadows on the floor, making it seem almost magical. But Richie didn't care about that either. And he didn't care that the couch was slightly uncomfortable and he certainly didn't care that he'd be much rather sleeping next to Eddie.

Eddie needed a moment and Richie was giving it to him.

Richie looked down on his stomach, where the kitten, which was yet to be named, laid. He gently petted his head with his pinky. Richie smiled a little and listened how the kitten started to purr.

"What a mess, right?" Richie whispered quietly.

The kitten meowed a croaky sound, making Richie chuckle. "Yeah, I'm an idiot...we know"

Then Richie let go of the kitten, knitting his fingers together and trying to get some sleep. But his attempt to fall asleep was cut short when he hear a sob coming from the bedroom.

He immediately lifted his head off the pillow and got up on his elbows. He listened for a moment, until he heard another sob and sniffles after it.

And without thinking, he scooted up from the couch, the kitten startling awake and jumping off Richie. The tall boy left his glasses on the coffee table and silently walked to the door, stopping until he reached it.

He held his hand on the doorknob, hearing now very clearly Eddie's sniffles and sobs, which he was desperately trying to silent with a pillow or something. Richie's heart ached even harder now.

The man he loved was bawling his eyes out, because he had hurt him. Richie still kept standing there, not daring to open the door.

What was he going to do anyways? Walk in and say that he's sorry, like he hasn't said that a million times already? Or tell Eddie that he loves him? Or...Or what?

He shook his head and felt something bump against his leg. Richie looked down to see the kitten look up at him, his eyes glowing in the dark. Then, the grey kitten softly scratched the bedroom door, making Richie flinch.

He quickly went back to the couch and listened, how Eddie's sobs began to slow down and finally the door opened.

"Hey you" he heard Eddie whisper to the cat. "Wasn't Richie warm enough for you? That's odd. He's like a human radiator"

Richie smiled at that and then heard the door shut again and a silence fell over him. Now he was all alone, not even the kitten keeping him company.

God, he has never felt this alone.

But he deserved it.

He shut his eyes and tried to get a hold of sleep and tried to ignore the small sniffles coming from the bedroom.

And eventually, Richie did fall asleep.

So, when he woke up, the sun shining right in his face, he squinted his eyes and blocked the sun with his hand. And that's when he felt it. He felt someone being pressed against him, radiating warm heat to Richie's other side. The warmness also continued across his stomach. Someone was holding him.

He opened his eyes and looked on his other side to see Eddie laying there, bead laying on Richie's chest, other arm resting on his chest. Eddie's other leg was hooked around Richie's.

Richie's heart skipped a beat as he looked how peaceful the boy looked. The sun flares were making soft yellow lines on his pretty face. Although Richie frowned at the dried out tear trails on Eddie's cheeks.

He moved his hand and traced his thumb against Eddie's soft cheek. This made the other boy slowly open his eyes, locking them with Richie. The brown orbs widened.

"Did you get cold?" Richie lifted a brow while smiling, making Eddie let out a breathy laugh and sit up on the couch. Richie ran his other hand up against Eddie's arm, which was leaned against the couch. "I'm sorry"

"No, I'm sorry" Eddie turned to Richie who gave him a confused look.

"You? But you didn't do anything wrong" Richie asked.

"I was overreacting" Eddie shook his head. Richie frowned and cupped Eddie's other cheek.

"No, baby, it's okay. For some reason I'm glad that you weren't okay with me sleeping with..." Richie looked guiltily at Eddie. "you know...because you acted way too calm back then."

"Maybe I should've yelled at you then" Eddie chuckled a little. "Maybe we would've avoided you sleeping on the couch and getting your back to shit"

"Don't worry about my back" Richie waved his hand. Eddie smiled a little and pushed Richie back against the couch and flopped on top of him, resting his chin on Richie's chest.

"Don't freak out when I ask this, but what would you do if we broke up"

Richie almost choked on his spit. "What?!"

"No, don't worry! I'm not breaking up with you! No, never! Last night I just...I was thinking and the thought of living without you...it just made me feel ill and so alone...That's why I came here because I didn't want to be alone anymore..."

"I'd die without you" Richie whispered and kissed Eddie on the lips. The smaller one smiled against Richie's lips, until pulling back and sitting on top of Richie. "I can make you breakfast. What'd you like?"

"Oh no, no, no, mister" Richie shook his head and got up from the couch, lifting Eddie off for a moment. "I've been the jerk. I make the breakfast. I ruined your birthday. The least I can do right now is to make you a five course breakfast"

"Well that does sound good" Eddie smiled up at Richie, who grinned.

"Great. You just sit there and....think of a name to our baby" Richie kissed the top of Eddie's head.

"Gatsby" Eddie immediately said.

"Gatsby?" the other lifted a brow, where Eddie nodded eagerly.

"Gatsby it is" Richie agreed and kissed Eddie once more before walking to the kitchen and starting to make the best breakfast he could ever think of, to the man he adored and loved the most.
