"happy new years, darling" justin whispered into eddie's year as they were sitting in a booth of harvest and looked at the fireworks from the window.

eddie smiled a little, but didn't reply. it's been a few weeks since richie has left. so far, no call from him. eddie was confident richie was doing fine in there. he always survived no matter the situation. richie could do it. eddie trusted richie.

"so since you're 16..." justin started and shifted closer. "why don't we head back to my place...my parents are out"

eddie let out a nervous laugh and scooted further away while pushing justin away. "no, justin, I'm...I'm not ready for that"

"you always say that" justin got serious.

"i know, but i'm just not ready to...you know..."

"have sex?"

"shhh" eddie hissed and looked around them. the diner was more quiet than usual. only the workers and couple other customers were in the dimly lit diner. "yeah, i'm not ready for that. even though i'm 16, it doesn't mean i'm beginning to fuck everyone who I see"

"well duh. you're not gonna fuck. you're the one getting fucked" justin smiled. eddie almost choked on his spit. he shook his head furiously. "justin, no means no"

"ugh" justin groaned and fully pulled away from eddie. "you're always like this"

"i'm sorry, i'm just..." eddie sighed and fiddled with a napkin. "i'm just really stressed out lately"

"why, cause richie left?" justin asked.

"yeah, that too...also i'm pretty sure my mom's getting suspicious...about me"

"that you're-"

eddie slammed his hand against justin's lips and gave him a desperate look. "don't fucking yell it around town. you're gonna get me killed"

justin rolled his eyes and pulled eddie's hand off. "sorry. but you should get over richie, just saying. he's in a nuthouse and they're taking care of him"

"it's not a nuthouse. it's just a place where they take care of teens with anger issues" eddie defended.

"yeah yeah, sure. but seriously eddie. we still haven't hung out at my place. we've dated almost a year now-"

"so is it a chore to come to your place when we're dating?" eddie chuckled anamused.

"well no, but it'd be nice" justin shrugged.

eddie let out a sigh. "what are we gonna do in there anyways?"

"we could go to the roof and watch the fireworks from there" justin shrugged. eddie smiled up at justin. "we could?"

"yup" justin nodded. "you can go straight to the roof from my window. it's totally safe, don't worry" justin promised and stood up, paying their foods.

eddie got up too and nodded. "that sounds amazing"

"great. let's go then" justin grinned and began walking towards the door, eddie quickly following after him.
