"five, six, seven eight and jump!" greta exclaimed and looked how one of the members of her cheersquad was pushed in the air, the others holding her feet.
"good, great! that's fantastic" she clapped her hands, motioning that they could put the other girl down. "now that we got that under control-"
"uhm...grets?" one of the girl pointed behind greta, who had her hands on her hips.
"what?" she asked and spun around, seeing none other than eddie kaspbrak standing near them, holding a gym bag in his hands. he had a nervous look on his face while he chewed his bottom lip.
"if you're looking for the football practice, we're having the field occupied today. the football practice is tomorrow" greta motioned with her hands to eddie walk away.
"no I uh...I think I'm in the right place" eddie was beet red.
on that instant, whispers began flooding from the other cheersquad members. betty, as one of them, looked at eddie surprised, yet smirking a bit. greta looked shocked at eddie, who wanted to turn around and run away, but it felt like his feet were glued on the ground.
"you want to join the cheersquad?" she asked. the whispers stopped.
"yeah I...I asked the principal already and he finally said yes" eddie blushed.
"huh...well this is interesting...a boy on a cheersquad...never seen this before" greta smirked and waved his hand so eddie could walk closer, which he did. "but i'm not going to send you away because you are a gay guy...let's see what you got"
eddie gulped as he was pushed forwards, the whole squad in front of him. "I-I'm not sure what I have to do..."
"are you flexible?" one of the girls asked.
eddie glanced at greta as to ask is he allowed to show whatever he had to. greta gave him a humble look and motioned with her hand as to say 'go ahead'.
so eddie dropped his bag on the ground and showed the others what he could do, such as putting his leg high up in the air.
"not bad kaspbrak" greta nodded as eddie blushed a bit. "not bad at all. how fast can you learn choreographies?"
"I don't know" eddie shrugged.
"we're about to find out. we're gonna show you a short dance and then you'll be repeating that as best as you can, got it?"
eddie nodded.
"great. form!" greta drew a circle in the air with her finger and the girls went to two lines, then performing, as greta said, a short dance choreography, eddie watching focused.
when the dance was over, everyone moved aside, looking at eddie, making him feel judged.
"think you can handle it?" greta lifted a brow, where eddie nodded hesitantly. "maybe?"
"good enough. alright, play the music"
and so the music started playing, eddie almost chickening out, but something made him stay. and so, he mimicked the dance as best as he could and remembered, ignoring the stares from the girls and probably few of the guys who were walking pass the field.
