richie chewed his lip harshly and tapped his fingers against the table of harvest, feeling a nervous flush go through his body. he was waiting for eddie. schools would be starting next week, giving the two about a week to themselves. and richie was beyond nervous. scared, almost. no, he definitely was scared. he looked out of the window at the passing cars and people. he was so caught up with the moment, that he didn't hear the bell ring, noticing everyone that a new customer had stepped in.
he was so lost in his own thoughts that he didn't hear the footsteps get closer to him and finally a pair of hands cover his eyes.
"guess who?"
richie flinched and looked over his shoulder, face going pale as he saw eddie looking down at him in all his glory. richie let out a breathy laugh, forgetting all his mistakes for a moment and remembering how much he had missed that particular bundle of joy.
"eds" he sighed and got up, wrapping his arms around eddie and hugging him tightly. he felt eddie's hands sneak around his torso, tracing his fingers against his back. "I missed you, rich"
"you have no idea how much I missed you too" richie sighed and kissed eddie's head, separating after. they sat down on the booth of harvest, eddie on the other side, richie on the opposite.
"so, how was it?" richie asked, smiling widely.
"you know what, it wasn't bad at all. I guess I really needed to be out of the town for a while" eddie nodded. "and my cousin was there too. it was nice seeing her. I told her about you"
"yeah? what'd you told her?" richie asked, forcing a smile to his lips, trying to ignore the back thought, that eddie was going to kill him after he found out richie had cheated on him.
"I told her...stuff...I don't remember all the things I said. but I only said good things, don't worry" eddie nodded.
"but wouldn't it be nice to complain about me sometimes?" richie chuckled nervously, making eddie furrow his brows.
"what do you mean by that?"
"wouldn't it be great to just talk trash about the trashmouth?" richie kept suggesting, but eddie only shook his head. "nope. I don't wanna trash about you...besides, there's nothing to trash about"
"eddie, I-"
"hey can we drop by the store really quick? I really do need some new pencils" eddie cut richie off.
"for what?"
"for school, idiot. I was planning to write down notes so I can go on with my life" eddie smiled a little, but that's when both of them remembered the reason for their break.
future.
"oh yeah..." eddie mumbled. "have you uhm, thought about it at all?"
"I have, actually...I mean, the time I finally got myself to distract myself from you, I thought about it and I'm pretty sure I wanna have something to do with football...it's easy and fun for me and I want to take advantage of that skill"
