"you've been spending time with eddie awfully lot" maggie tozier smirked while scrubbing the white porcelain plates.

richie looked from behind the fridge door while putting the supplies back in after they had had a dinner. "yeah? not anything new"

"yeah" maggie smirked. "it's just that, you had the fight at one point..."

"that's in the past, mom. and when I left to new york, we have a lot to do to make up the lost time" richie chuckled and shut the fridge door. "why are you interested in this subject?"

maggie looked at her son over her shoulder. "of course I'm interested of what are you up to...and you know, if you have something to tell me, you can"

"i know" richie said hesitantly. "but I don't have anything to say"

"nothing?" the light brown haired woman lifted a brow.

"no. nothing" richie nodded. "can I help you with something else?"

"no, I can handle the dishes" maggie nodded and wiped his hands on the towel which was laying on the counter. "come here"

richie rolled his eyes as he slouched to his mother. she grabbed richie's face in her hands, pulled richie towards her and gave him a kiss on the forehead. "i love you"

"you too, ma" richie scrunched his nose as his mother released him from her soft touch.

"now go do something useful" maggie smiled and tapped richie's butt as he turned around. "the front yard is full of leaves"

richie groaned, yet he went to put on his shoes and put on a faded pink-blue wind breaker. he loved his mom, so he'd do anything for her. if it meant raking the leaves or doing the dishes. especially when they were just the two of them, without his sister or father. richie didn't want to have bad relationships with his mother.

i mean, c'mon. it's the woman who gave birth to richie and loved him even when he was swearing at the age of five.

richie inhaled the smell of fall, well, it was much more near winter at this point.

it was cold and windy. the sun was behind dark clouds as richie began sliding the rake over the leaves collecting them to a pile.

and soon enough, he heard a light chuckle behind him. "richie tozier doing outdoor work? the world really must've flipped upside down"

richie turned around to see eddie in his yellow windbreaker and grey beanie shoved on his head. he had a smile on his lips, which had a slight coat of lip gloss. his cheeks were red from the breezy air and the tip of his nose like rudolph's.

"hey stranger" richie leaned on the rake and smiled cheekily at eddie who walked to his boyfriend and tiptoed to place a kiss on his lips. "hi there"

"what are you doing here?" richie asked after their lips had separated.

"i came to see you" eddie said it like it was obvious. "i see you have something better to do"

richie looked down at the leaves under their feet, then looking back up at eddie. "ma asked me to"

eddie nodded and looked around richie's yard. "do you have another rake? I could help?"
