eddie peeked into the hay barn, seeing his cousin, few years older, rake the hays into a pile in the corner. eddie smiled a little and pulled himself up from the ladder into the attic part of the barn.

he didn't say anything. he just pushed his hands into his pockets and kicked some of the hay out of his way.

his cousin turned around, smiling as she saw eddie. "oh, eddie. didn't hear you at first"

"sorry if I interrupted" eddie apologized.

"no, no, it's alright" she sighed and put the rake aside, opening her arms for eddie to hug her. eddie accepted the gesture and hugged the girl, veronica, getting a comforting feeling around him. "i didn't know you were here"

"I didn't know you were here either" eddie pulled back, looking up at the girl.

"sit with me?" she lifted a brow, where eddie nodded. the two cousins sat on the hays, looking up at the wooden ceiling, where the sun flares were peeking through the small holes, lighting the dust that was floating around the barn.

"my parents are out again" veronica started, redoing her raven colored ponytail. "so I came to help grandma. and you?"

"we just haven't been here for a while. mom thought it'd be nice" eddie shrugged.

"do you think it's nice?"

"I mean, sure yeah, I love grandma. It's nice seeing her, but all my friends are back in derry and...I just really miss them"

"tell me about your friends, city boy" veronica smirked.

"okay, you're way more spoiled than I am, so you should be called city girl" eddie pointed out. "but uh, yeah...they're...I couldn't ask for better friends"

"sounds nice" veronica sighed. "what's their names?"

"all of them?"

"yeah, we got time"

"richie, stan, bev, mike, ben and bill" eddie said.

"so who's richie?" veronica smirked a little and rolled her head on her other shoulder, looking at eddie.

"w-what?" eddie lifted a brow.

"you said his name first. he must be the most important"

"I don't know where you pull your logics. I just thought of him first" eddie shook his head.

"exactly. why?"

"because...we've been friends for the longest. what kind of interrogation is this?" eddie chuckled nervously.

"no, I just thought that maybe he's something special" veronica shrugged. "but if you say he isn't..."

"well he..." eddie sighed. "you're not entirely wrong...he's my boyfriend"

veronica's brown eyes widened and her lips agaped. she looked at eddie for a while, until letting a small smile on her lips. "that's cute"
