beverly was putting small hair clips onto eddie's brown hair as eddie was reading his history book at the library. they had occupied the beanbags which were on the corner of the library, behind all the shelves, nobody could see them.
It was the losers' corner anyways. they usually hung out there during the quiet hours, aka, 12-1 pm. this time eddie and beverly had ran there first, the rest of their friends minding their own business. ben had his math test, mike was busy with home economics and stan and bill....were doing god knows what.
eddie thought it was nice to be with beverly. someone who could understand him with richie and his issues. beverly and richie were good friends. they always smoked together...well, they haven't been smoking for a while, due to the fact that eddie and richie has been fighting all summer.
"so what's going on with you and justin?" beverly asked, smirk visible on her lips.
"nothing" eddie blushed. he felt beverly take a piece of his hair from his forehead and pin it with one of her hairclips.
"uh-huh...and I'm supposed to believe that?" beverly leaned on eddie's shoulder and looked at the other boy.
"yes, actually"
"well, I don't buy it" beverly pinched eddie's sides, making the smaller one let out a giggle and snap his elbows against his ribs.
"you don't have to buy it. I don't care, but that's the truth" eddie sighed.
"the truth smells fishy" beverly scrunched his nose and shook her head. "But fine. i won't tease, only because you're kinda cute and I don't wanna get you all cranky on me"
"I am not cranky" eddie hissed and turned around. beverly let out a chuckle. "you know, I'd take you seriously, but with those hairclips...you look like a little baby and it's kinda distracting me"
eddie groaned and turned back around to his history book.
"aw, i'm sorry, ed. didn't mean it" beverly hugged eddie from behind, then flopping herself down on the beanbags.
"hey, ed, can I ask you a question?"
"shoot" eddie mumbled.
"what made you realize you were...you know..." beverly was careful to say the word, since she knew eddie didn't want the whole school to know.
"I uh...just...thought...guys...looked....cute" eddie said slowly, blushing like crazy. beverly just smiled and took a better position. "cute, huh? like who?"
"guys overall...." eddie murmured.
"no specific?" bev kept asking, but eddie shook his head. "I don't understand why all of you think I have someone special in mind, when I don't"
"right...uh-huh...okay" bev let out a breath, deciding to drop the subject. "have you uhm...talked to ben, lately?"
"ben? last time we talked was yesterday about the physics exam. why?" eddie looked away from his book at beverly.
"oh nothing...just...wondering"
"oh ms marsh, do I smell a small crush?" eddie teased, grinning.
