"Dad?" I asked.

"Oh. Mia sweetheart, I didn't hear you come in," he said. "This is Julie."

"Mia! It's so nice to finally meet you, your dad has told me so much about you!" She said with a warm smile.

"Er it's nice to meet you too." I said as I didn't know how to respond.

I'm shocked and very confused. Are they dating? Why didn't he tell me? What about Mum. How could he do this to her?!

"Oh Mia why don't you join us for dinner, I'd really love to get to know you." Julie said.

I was too confused. I didn't want to sit around a table and eat with her. I don't even know her. Why is she even here?

"No thanks, I'm not hungry. I've got homework to do." I lied.

I could tell my dad knew I was lying. I mean I did tell him before I didn't have any college work. I saw him look at me, guilt and sadness covered his face. I left the room and went straight to my bedroom.

I feel bad. I was a little rude to Julie and she actually does seem really nice. I just, I can't help it. I kind of always knew my dad would maybe see other people but it's too much. I miss her. We were all so happy together. Why does he have to see Julie?

I tired to distract myself by watching the flash and around 40 minutes later I heard a knock at my door.

"Come in." I said and in walked my dad.

"Hey Mia, can I sit?"

"Sure." I replied.

"I'm sorry," he said. "I should have told you about Julie. I didn't know how to. I met her at a coffee shop downtown about a month ago and we just started talking. It only got serious a couple of weeks ago but I didn't want to tell you then because you were stressed out revising for your mocks. Mia, I am sorry for not telling you but I need you to know that she will never and can never replace your mum. You know how much your mum means to me, she was my first love and I still love her, I always will love her but I know she would want me to move on. You and Luke are the most important people in my life, nobody else. So if you are really uncomfortable with this then I will end things, I would never want you to feel like I'm replacing your mum."

I feel so bad. I don't want my dad to break up with her, she's done nothing wrong and she seems really nice. He's right, my mum would want him to move on. I know how much he loves my mum and how me she means to him, they were each other's first love. He won't ever stop loving her but he deserves a chance to be happy again.

"You don't need to say sorry to me dad, do you really like her?" I asked.

"I do."

"Well then, I'm happy for you. You deserve to be happy dad, and she seems nice. I know you will always love Mum." I said with a smile.

"I always will." He asked.

"So tell me, what's she like?" I asked.

"Well she's a nurse and she has a son around your age actually. I'd love for you to get to know her, maybe we can all spend some time together in a few days?" He asked hopefully.

"Sure dad, I'd love to." I said with a smile.

The next day Luke came back from university. After my dad told Luke about Julie. We all decided to do something as a family, so we went to go play mini golf.

"Wow you are so bad." Luke said messing up my hair a bit before taking his turn.

We've done 3 courses so far. My dad was winning and me, I was losing of course. After the mini golf we stopped at a Italian restaurant to have some food. When we were finishing up I got a text from Nate saying he was back in town and wanted to invite me to some local bands concert. Suspicious of my happy look after seeing the message Luke asked me what's up. I told him it was nothing but not believing me he quickly grabs my phone.

"Oh look dad it's lover boy. He wants to take red cheeks over here to a concert."

Annoyed I grabbed my phone off him. "He's not lover boy and it doesn't matter I'm not going. We're having a family day."

"Actually sweetheart you should go. I'm tired, I think I'm going to relax at home because I've got work tomorrow." My dad said as he gets into the driver seat.

Soon later I was dropped off outside of Hayden's house. I knocked on the door and was then greeted by Nate with his signature smirk. "Munchkin."

"Nate." Seconds later I was pulled into his embrace.

"How you've been?" He asked once we pulled away from each other.

"Okay. What about you?"

"Good." He smiled and then moved away from the door letting me in. Entering the living room I was greeted by Matty and Sophia who were getting ready to leave.

After a 30 minute drive we soon were outside of the concert venue where we met Dylan and Nessa. Inside, the venue was quite big and had a rock and roll vibe to it. Apparently one of the members of the band are friends with them which is how they got the tickets and also because they know one of the members we were able to go backstage and chill before the show starts.

Backstage, Nate and I were catching up on life while the others were admiring the autograph pictures of musicians and old vinyls that hanged on the wall. "So how did your mocks go?"

"I think I did good. I mean I hope."

"I'm sure you did." He smiled. I smiled back but straight after the band entered the room catching all of our attention. Nate and the group greeted their friend who then introduced his band but what caught my eye was the way Nate looked shocked once he locked eyes with the blonde girl who held a guitar.

"Samantha?" Who the fuck is Samantha?
