I woke up to a pillow being thrown at me and no surprise to who threw it.

"Merry Christmas! Now get up lazy ass." Luke laughed.

Ugh. Now don't get me wrong, I'm usually the first one up, especially on Christmas but I am absolutely shattered today. I rolled over to check the time on my phone. 6:50am! The idiot woke me up at this time. Are you kidding me. Guess I may as well get up considering I'm awake now, plus once I'm awake I can never really fall back asleep.

After checking my phone and sending a reply to everyone's Christmas messages, I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face. I threw my hair in a bun, put my slippers on and went downstairs to see my dad and Luke sat down.

It feels so weird, it's never been only us at Christmas. Usually mum and dad are in the kitchen and Luke and Emily are sat down watching a movie. I guess those days are over.

"Merry Christmas sweetheart." Dad said before giving me a tight hug.

"Merry Christmas Dad." I smiled.

"Merry Christmas." Luke said before giving me a bone crushing hug.

"You too."

"Now come on, let's get these presents opened." My Dad smiled as he grabbed hold of one the presents.

It's a little while later now and I was currently setting up the dining table whilst Luke and Dad were making the Christmas dinner, just then the doorbell rang.

"I'll get it." I said before making my way to the door.

"Merry Christmas Mia!" Julie smiled before giving me a hug.

"Hey guys, merry Christmas. Come on in."

Alex and Julie came in and we all just sat chatting for a while.

"We bought you a little gift." Julie handed me a gift.

"Aw you didn't have to."

"It's no problem, this was actually Alex's idea."

I opened the gift and saw one of my favourite books. I used to have it but I ended up losing it and could never find another copy. Alex must have remembered me telling him about it.

"Thank you so much." I said before giving both Alex and Julie a hug.

"That's okay." Smiled Alex.

It's about an hour later and Julie and Dad are starting to prepare the food whilst Luke is on the phone to Kiana in his room. I decided to give Alex a tour of the house and we are now sat on the roof just talking.

"So, it's just you and your mum?" I asked.

"Yeah, my dad left when I was small."

"Oh right, sorry."

"Don't be, we're better off without him, trust me." He smiled faintly.

"Have you guys always lived here?" I asked.

"Nope, we actually use to live in Australia but we moved here when I was about five."

"Wow, you don't sound Australian." I laughed.

"It comes and goes." He smiled.

"We're thinking about going back for a little while in a month or two."

"I've always wanted to visit Australia."

"You should come. It'd be fun."

"I might just take you up on that offer."
