I've got college tomorrow and the last week has been crazy. A lot has happened. A lot involving Nate.
On the first day he took me to a bar in town. He asked me if I drank and I said no, he chuckled at my answer and told me he thought so. He then challenged me to a game of pool, I told him I only played once. During the game he kept teasing me on how bad I was. Soon later he apologised for laughing and came behind me and taught me how to play. He must have felt bad for joking around because I ended up winning the last game.
On the second day, finding out that I wasn't from Rosewood, Nate suggested that he should take me to some of his favourite places. Starting with his mum's bakery. We went in and brought some cookies and sat down. He told me that he sometimes helps his mum out, I told him that I knew that and that I know how amazing of a baker he is and his cooking skills are phenomenal. He smiled shyly, disagreeing with me. He then took me to a bookstore, he started rambling on about how much he loves his books, I joined him. The time at the bookstore I noticed he couldn't stop smiling. I wanted to ask him about it but I didn't want to ruin the mood. Seeing how giddy I was he brought up Cathy's bookstore and when I mentioned that I've been he looked at me suprised and then when I told him he took me he seemed impressed with himself.
The next day the weather was dreadful so I ended up staying home. Half way through the day I heard a knock on the door. I answered the door to see Nate. "Hi." He said shyly. I greeted him back with a smile and asked what he was doing here. He said he enjoyed spending time with me and that he thinks it's helping. With that said I invited him in and brought him into the living room. He looked around the room like he was trying to remember it but from the look on his face he couldn't. After having a glance at the room he finally sat beside me on the sofa. "So I brought a movie I think you might like."
"Oh. What movie?" I asked.
He then pulled out his hand that was hiding behind his back and showed me the movie. "Wizard of Oz. That's an interesting choice." I sounded suprised because I was. I haven't seen that movie since I was a child and I never mentioned it to him either.
"Well you said that my nickname for you was munchkin so I thought it was because this probably was your favourite movie." I couldn't help but burst out laughing but seeing him look at me confused, I stopped.
"I haven't watched that movie in ages and I think you called me that because of my height which is stupid cause I'm not even that short." I explained.
"Oh good cause the munchkins in the movie look creepy." He chuckled.
After laughing about the munchkins in the movie, we decided to watch the movie.
The next two days I didn't even see Nate because I was so busy sorting out things for college but soon came Saturday, the last day I would get to spend with him before the holidays end.
We met up in town. After spending all that time having fun Nate wanted to take the time to ask questions about the months he doesn't remember. Using the information the gang gave him that day he started asking for more detail on the story. The weather being nice, I decided we could do this by taking a stroll through town.
Telling him as much as I could we took a break. Taking in all the information, he leaned on the brick wall with his back and took out a cigarette and lighter and lit the cig. He then inhaled it and let out a big breath of smoke. I watched him in disgust. I didn't know he started smoking again. "What's wrong?" He asked looking at me concerned.
"Nothing."
"No tell me. I know something is up." He took a step towards me.
"Er.. it's just that erm.. you quit smoking." I took a step back away from the smoke.
He then looked shocked and threw the cigarette to the ground and stood on it. "Oh good." He then itched the back of his neck. "So erm there's this cool bar just around the corner."
We then went to a live music bar which he said inspired him to play guitar. When we got settled in, he disappeared to get drinks but instead I saw him on stage playing a familiar tune with the guitar he held. He soon started singing the lyrics to Coldplay - The scientist. I watched him in awe, listening to every word he sang. Hearing the sadness in his voice.
Soon later he finished the song and was applauded by everyone in the room. Once he put the guitar back he came towards the table I was on, smirking. "So how was that?"
"It sounded like you were trying to impress me." I smiled.
"Maybe I was." I blushed at this. I can't believe he's flirting with me. "So where to now."
"Well I saw an ice cream shop on the way when we came here."
"Let's go then." He grabbed my hand and walked me out of the bar and to the ice cream shop.
"Hi what can I get for you." The lady behind the counter said.
"Can I have one mint chocolate chip and one cookie dough ice cream please." Hearing him say my order my neck snapped as I looked at him in shock.
"How did you know my favourite flavour?"
"I saw you staring at it as we waited in line."
"Oh well it looks delicious so." I said awkwardly.
The day slowly coming to an end we took the ice creams to go and walked home. Walking home we came by the park near Nessa's house.
"Hey Mia, do you want to chill at the park." He asked randomly. I must have gave him a confused look because he started to explain himself. "It's just I've really enjoyed spending time with you and I have this strange feeling that I need you"
"Okay." I entered the park. Nate slowly followed. The swings being my favourite part of the part I headed towards them and sat on one. Nate sat beside me.
"You know I am really sorry about all this." He sighed.
"What?"
"I hate that I don't remember. Spending time with you has made me realise how much this must suck for you."
"It does, a little but I'm fine. Spending time with you has made me realise that we can still hang out and make memories."
"Yeah but it's not the same. You see me as your boyfriend and I'm slowly seeing you as a good friend. I just wish I could be the same as to how you see me."
"You are the same. You're intelligent, kind and funny but you were so open back then but that's because I let you in. I told you a lot of things and we spoke like everyday. That doesn't mean it can't happen again unless you don't want it to happen?" I asked, worried about his answer.
"Of course I want it to happen. I meant what I said I need you. Every time I'm with you I'm happy. You're beautiful Mia, inside and out. I liked getting to know you but you already know me and I hate that. I hate that you have memories of us that you can't share and everything I tell you, you already known. I just think we're not on the same page."
"What does that mean?" My voice sounded shaky and tears slowly traveled down my face.
"I think when I go back to university we shouldn't talk."
"What?" I said shocked as I stood up from the swing. "I told you I'm fine with you losing your memory, I can live with that but I can't live without you."
He sighed and got up. "That's why we need to do this. You should be able to live without me."
"Don't even say that! You know what I mean. Why are you doing this? Don't you want to fight for us."
"Obviously I do. Whenever I'm with you I try so fucking hard and it's hurts so much that's why I need space from this." He's voice went quite. "You can't change my mind Mia." After saying that he wouldn't even look at me. Not being able stand here and listen to him I stormed out of the park, telling him not to follow me. He didn't.
When I got up I ran to my room and cried into my pillow. How could he do this? How could he just give up on us like that?
