Music blared out from inside. It was the night of the Sanders New Years party. I was standing outside in the freezing cold by the front double doors, which were open wide and had two bulky, well dressed men standing by each door.

Once I made my way inside the Sanders house, I found my way to the big function room that was built at the back of the house. The part of the house I've never been to. Walking into the room, I was greeted by bright multicoloured lights and just like any other party, the room was very crowded.

As I made my way towards the bar where Nate was stood, I was getting stares from many businessmen and their trophy wives. It kind of made me feel out of place but once I got to Nate, all those thoughts just disappeared.

"Wow, you could have told me your dad was Jay Gatsby." I joked. "Wait! Is that why I haven't met him?"

"Haha you're so funny. Not." Nate rolled his eyes as he drinks from his glass. As he sipped down his drink, he watched me with those beautiful green eyes. "You know, you look so damn gorgeous tonight."

"I know." I said feeling all confident. He smiled at this. Talking about feeling confident, I couldn't help but move to the rhythm of the music. I couldn't help but feel like a princess. I mean I was kind of at a ball and I was surrounded by business royalty. Anyways, after I had a drink or two of juice, I grabbed hold of Nates hand and pulled him onto the dance floor. The song was slow so we just held each other and swayed to the music.

Soon later the music changed to an upbeat one and suddenly we were both jumped by wild animals who we call friends.

"Two more hours and it's a new year bitch!" A drunk Nessa whispered into my ear as she hugged me tightly.

For an hour, the whole gang seated ourselves at the very back of the room on a round table. We all spent the time reminiscing the year, the year we'll soon be saying goodbye to. It was quite emotional really. I may have only been friends with them for a short while but they really have become family. After crying and laughing we all went back onto the dance floor because Dylan payed the DJ to play baby by Justin.

Slowly the music faded and was replaced by a man on the mic.

"Good evening everyone. I hope you're all having a great night at our annual Sanders New Years party."

Following the voice, we all looked up at the stage to see Camila and a man I'm assuming was Nate's father.

"As you all know, I will be retiring from the family business soon so I thought since there is only an hour till the new year, why not start it with good news." Mr Sanders grins widely as he looked down to both of his sons. "I would like you all to give a huge welcome to my son, who is going to do wonders for this business and help it keep growing, Nate Sanders!"

A spotlight soon appeared onto Nate who was stood still beside me. His fingers curled into his palms and his eyelids squeezed closer together as he gave a penetrating stare to his father, who looked like he was on cloud nine. A second later Nate turned around and walked out of the room, leaving a gap between Hayden and me.
Confused with what's happening around me, I looked up at Hayden to get answers only to see him wonder off with Josh.

Worried about Nate I decided to chase after him. Searching outside, I finally caught him entering his car.

Not wanting to leave him alone, I ran to his car and sat in the passenger seat. He didn't say a word. So I stayed. The journey to wherever he was going was quiet. He didn't speak and so I didn't speak.

Soon later he put the car in park. He had parked in a private car park which was in front of a huge tall building. The building and the area wasn't familiar to me. Nate then got out of the car and closed the door, walking towards the entrance. I followed him. I followed him into the elevator then out of the elevator to the top floor. As we both exited the elevator I couldn't help but be in awe of what was in front of me.

In front of me was a luxury open-plan living room and kitchen. The thing that caught my attention was the view you could see from here. The city lights and the busy streets.

"It's beautiful isn't it?" Nate whispered to me as he hugged me from behind. I hadn't realised that I walked up towards the glass window.

We stood like this for some time before I finally had the guts to ask him about tonight. At first he tried to shrug it off but I wouldn't let him.

"He's a dick. He playing games and I don't want to be part of it anymore." He finally gave in.

"So why did you walk out? You could have just told him that."

"I have told him Mia, about a thousand times and the reason I walked out was because if I stayed there a little longer I would have punched him."

Wow okay I knew he had problems with his father but I didn't know they were this big.

"Anyway Mia I don't want to talk about this." He sighed. He then moved from his spot and sat onto the sofa that was in front of a huge flatscreen tv. I stayed at the spot and watched him get comfortable, trying to read his mood. He started taking of his blazer and placed it onto the glass table that stood perfectly in between the sofa and tv. He then laid on his back and leaned his neck on the arm of the sofa. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath as he stroked his curly locks.

"Are you just going to stay there or are you going to come over here?" He asked, his voice being husky, dragging me out of la-la land. Taking another look at the view in front of me, I walked up to him and laid beside him.

The sofa wasn't that big for the two of us so we were really close. So close that if I turned my head I would have bumped his, which was really annoying because I wouldn't have mind looking at him right now. Especially because when we're alone he lets his guard down. But I didn't have to worry about that because he soon was on top of me, both of his arms by my shoulders pushing him up.

"Did I tell you, you look good tonight? I mean this black dress, your teasing me." He looked down at me, deep into my eyes with that gorgeous smirk of his that I use to hate.

"You've got to be kidding me." I laughed. "Suspenders. That's a bold move." I slowly tugged on his suspenders making him move closer to me. As he moved closer to me, both his arms tensed. Proving to me how fit he was. We were only about an inch away from kissing until his phone rang making us both jump a little. Wanting his phone, he got up and grabbed it from his blazer. He looked at it for a second then put it straight back down.

"It's my mum." He said before he sat back down onto the sofa.

"What! You can't just leave her worrying." I replied back as I grabbed hold of his phone and answered it, putting it on speaker.

On the phone Camila started rambling on about how worried she was that I wasn't able to butt in and tell her it was me and that he's fine. A minute later I was finally able to. Relieved, Camila let out a breath. She then said her goodbyes and told us to stay safe and hung up. I do hope by safe she meant not get yourself killed because if she meant "stay safe" then that was awkward as fuck.

After the phone conversation, I went to put his phone back down on the table. As the lock screen was slowly fading I couldn't help but notice the time. Smiling, I sat back up straight and wrapped my arms around Nate's neck and kissed him. When I pulled away he had that cute, giddy expression.

"What was that for?"

"Happy new year!"
