Christmas holiday came and went quickly for Honey, as the Weasley's decided to stay at the school. That didn't stop her from visiting Molly and Arthur on Christmas though, to drop off her presents to them and so they wouldn't be lonely.
Charlie was there as well, visiting from Romania for a few days, so she spent some time with him. He was like an older brother figure to her, unlike the other Weasley boys who just felt like her friends. He viewed her the same way, so the two of them spending time alone didn't feel awkward in the slightest. No one knew he was going to be going over, and Honey was glad that she was there to see Molly and Arthurs surprised faces when he arrived.
Charlie continued to pester her about she and Fred getting together, and she wanted nothing more than for him to stop talking. He had been careful about his wording, because he didn't want her to be forced to tell him the truth. All the Weasleys were careful about wording when around her, because they know that if they were in her shoes that they would want the same. She and Charlie were sitting outside making snow men when he started on the topic again.
"I don't know, Charlie!" She yelled, throwing a snow ball his way. She was getting frustrated with him.
"Hey, I'm just joking." He said softly, not understanding her sudden mood change. "Is everything okay."
"No. Everything is not okay because I really like him." She said quietly, throwing herself down into the snow dramatically. He said the question like a statement, so she didn't have to answer him, but she did anyway. "I really, actually do, and it's frustrating because I know that the odds are against me. I keep trying to ignore it, or push it down, but them he gives me this smile or does something that makes me crazy and I can't."
Charlie was at a loss for words. He wasn't expecting that at all, because all along he had only been messing with her. He laid down next to her in the snow, as she started making a snow angel with an expressionless face. After a moment of silence, he finally thought of something to say to her. It had been six years since he was her age, but he knew how she felt, and what he would have wanted to hear.
"So you woo him." He told her seriously, waving his arms in the snow for an angel of his own. She couldn't help but laugh at what he said.
"Me, woo?" She asked him through her giggles. "I don't know how to do that."
"I was once a teenage boy, you know." He said defensively, "I could teach you, though I don't think you need any help with Fred. He's already head over heals, Honey."
"Shut up and teach me to woo." She said laughing, throwing a handful of snow in his face.
When Honey told Mable about her holiday, she couldn't help but find Honey compleatly adorable. She told Mable that she didn't think she could ever have enough confidence to actually flirt, but at least Honey was admitting out loud that she liked Fred. She had told Mable things that implied it, but never actually said so.
When Honey explained a few things that Charlie told her to do, she had to admit that he gave her a lot of good advice, that Mable would definitely use. Their good mood left over from the holidays was short lived as they were greeted with the news that another student had been petrified, along with the Gryfandor ghost.
She and Mable sat with the twins at the Gryfandor table so that they could tell them the full story, and since the two of them were sitting across from each other, Mable took the spot next to George, and she next to Fred. They started telling the story as soon as they asked, and Honey noticed the look Mable was giving her across the table, knowing what she was getting at.
When it was Freds turn to talk, Honey noticed his arm resting across the table, and non-chalontly rested her elbow next to it, and propped her hand on her cheek. It wasn't much, but her skin tingled from how close they were from touching.
George took back over the talking as soon as Fred's words faultered and his eyes drifted to the side where Honey was. She was so close that he could smell her, she smelled like rosemary- earthy but sweet. Honey didn't notice his change, since she was sitting at his side, but Mable did. He blinked a few times, snapping himself out of his daze, and took back over the conversation.
When Honey told them she got to spend time with Charlie, they couldn't help but be jelous, and smile at the fact that she went to visit Molly in the first place. After the two girls left the great hall, George turned to Fred with a confused grin.
"Did I miss something?" George asked him, earning a confused face of his own.
"What are you talking about?"
"Did something happen with Honey?" He tried bluntly.
"No, why?" Fred asked confused, feeling his face turn red.
"She was flirting."
"With who?" He asked surprised. Since he'd met Honey he had never seen her flirt with anyone.
"You." He said, pointing out the obvious.
"Why would she flirt with me? How do you know?" He asked thoughtfully, thinking back. He didn't notice her doing anything different, but he did notice her more than he normally did.
"She was just- nevermind. Maybe I had it wrong." George told him. He didn't want to get Fred's hopes up if it turned out that she wasn't. George concidered asking her, but even if he had decided too he wouldn't have gotten the chance. They got word the next morning that both Honey and Mable had been found petrified. They were found right outside the Hufflepuff common rooms, after getting up sometime during the night coming back from the kitchens. They were making silly faces in the reflective dinner tray Mable was carrying, when the basilisk came up behind them. The first person they told was Luna, who then asked for the two boys to be informed.
McGonagall approached them at breakfast, and for the first time, she didn't scold them for running in the corridors. They ran all the way to the hospital wing, but froze in the doorway. Her body laid more naturally that the others, with her arms resting at her side, but she was just as stiff. Her blond hair was in a bun ontop of her head and her pink lips were drawn into a small smile. The two boys took a seat across from Luna, who didn't seem too upset. She knew her sister was strong, and that she would be okay.
"They found them outside their dorms," Luna told them in a voice similar to Honeys, "They were coming back from the kitchens."
Fred was about to respond to her when he got distracted by what Honey had on. Along with her bumble bee pajama pants, she wore a blue knitted sweater with a F stitched on the front in yellow. She was wearing it to bed, he realised, and the thought made him smile. She had plenty of big sweaters of her own, so he couldn't help but wonder why she chose to wear his.
When others visited her throughout the weeks, they wondered the same thing, but knew better than to ask him. Ginny stayed with Luna as much as she could though, and asked her about it. She felt so guilty knowing that she was responsible for this, so she wanted to give Luna as much support as possible.
Luna told her that Honey had tons of Freds cloths, and wore them because they helped her sleep. Luna suspected nargles, but it was really because she loved the way that he smelled, and it made her feel close to him.
As hard and the twins tried- exspecially Fred- it was hard to act happy with Honey in the state she was in. They missed her terribly, and were counting down the days until Madam Pomphry was finished with the potion to wake her. They even found themselves missing Mable too, and the two boys made sure that they always had fresh flowers by their bedside,. Lee didn't even realize how much he valued Honey as a friend until she wasn't around any longer.
Just as Madam Pomphry was finishing up the potion, things got worse. Ginny had been taken into the Chamber of Secrets, and Ron and Harry had gone after her.
