Just when Honey was about to owl Mable to tell her the big news, she got one from her inviting her out to dinner. Cedric would be there and she extended her invitation to Fred and George as well. Honey knew that would be the perfect time to tell her, so she accepted the invite instantly, letting her know that the boys were quite busy with work. The shop had been open for only two weeks now and the steady flow of customers showed no signs of stopping. Cedric came by that night to pick her up since she couldn't appreate anymore, and Fred kissed her on the cheek whispering a quick good luck to her before she left. He was saying good luck because not only was she telling them about the engagement, but asking Mable to be her maid of honor.
It had been a while since she had seen Cedric so she was happy that Mable invited him too, and also happy that they had started to become closer friends. Mable had chosen a pretty fancy restaurant but then again, she always did, and she was waiting for them outside patiently.
"So, how have things been?" She asked as soon as they sat down. "Living with Fred and everything."
"It's been great," She said honestly, "I have some news though."
"Okay," She said, feeling worried.
"Is everything alright?" Cedric asked, feeling the same.
Their worried feeling disappeared as soon as she lifted her left hand to reveal her sparkling engagement ring. She laughed happily when Mable grabbed her hand and pulled it across the table so she could see, gawking at it. Cedric on the other hand, was thinking clearly about the situation as a whole, just like she had been.
"Are you sure that it's for the best?" Cedric asked her cautiously. He didn't want to hurt her feelings by pointing out the flaws.
"I know it's not," She told him with a sigh, taking her hand back. "Everythings just so complicated. I've wanted to marry Fred for as long as I can remember, and I still do. I love him so so much and we've talked about it not being the best option for him but he really wants this too. His argument is that me dying is even more of a reason to do it."
"Where'd he get the money for the ring?" Mable asked curiously. "I mean, is the shop doing that well?"
"He said he'd been saving up," She said with a goofy grin, looking at them. "They sold a lot of products while still at school as well and apparently he had been thinking about this than longer than I thought."
"How long had he been saving?" Cedric asked confused. He remembered seeing the prices of rings when he went into a jewelry store to buy his dad a watch for Christmas.
"He didn't say exactly, but he did say before I got sick," She said, looking back down at the ring. A wave of emotions caught her suddenly at the thought. She wished so badly that things could be different. Cedric and Mable noticed her start to cry but she stopped them before they could cross over to her side of the table. "I'm okay, just happy. I'm sad too, and scared."
"Have you picked a date?" She asked her curiously.
"Not yet," She replied, "On a lighter note, will you be my maid of honor?"
"Me?" She asked surprised, making both her and Cedric laugh.
"Yes, you!" She answered, glad to get off of the heavy topic and onto a happy one.
"Now I'm going to start crying!"
Back home, Fred decided to take this time to test out something he had been working on. He knew that if Honey found out about it she would get upset, which was why he was only able to work on it while she wasn't around. It was more of potion making than anything because he was trying to find a cure for allergies. They had hired a new employee, Verity, who had a mild allergy to unicorn as well, and when she found out about what Fred was making offered to help test it instantly, as long as he could promise that it was completely safe. His first step would be to make a cream that could reverse the effects because if he could get that to work he could adapt it into a liquid potion or medicine that would allow Honey to take the cure for her disease.
Veritiys allergy only made her turn red and itch a little, which was the main reason that she didn't mind. She was excited to help because even though she hadn't been working there more than a few days, she knew that what was happening to Honey was unfair and wanted to help her any way she could. George was there as well, knowing that Fred was going to go through a whole lot of frustration over it when it didn't work. It had been tried before, and no one could figure it out, and he didn't think that Freds tries would be any different, as much as he wanted for it to be.
Honey was excited to tell Fred about Mable excepting her offer to be maid of honor and Fred was happy to listen to her. He was glad that the idea of marrying him made her as happy as it did for him, and that she didn't push him away like she initially wanted too. He wanted everything he could with her, all the time and experiences, he always had and the only thing that her sickness changed about that was the time that he had to do it. George used to think he was delusional when he started saving up to buy her a ring, but he knew what he wanted and nothing would change that. Honey was his life, and he couldn't even imagine a world without her. He felt in his heart that one way or another, he wouldn't have too. His heart ached when just before falling asleep she whispered to him.
"I can't give you forever, but I'm sure as hell gonna try."
