Now that Mable and Cedric knew about her secret, she didn't understand why she was so scared to tell them in the first place. That's what she told Sirius the next day when she went to thank him for giving her the confidence to tell them. He was happy for her, and couldn't help but be reminded of someone he knew a long time ago when he looked at her. Maybe that's why he liked her so much, he thought. Something about her made Sirius want to protect her, and be there for her like he should have been for his own daughter.
That week, she was sad about Hagrid's hippogriff, Buckbeat, being executed that evening. It wasn't the first time they had spoken about it, because it really bothered her, but since it was happening then, it weighed on her heavily. That, mixed with the stress of her OWL's that she had just completed, made her ready to get home, even if that meant going back to her father.
Sirius hated the thought of her father after Honey told him about the way he treated her. She was very vague about it, but he could recognize the look in her eyes saying that it was much more than she let on, He would know, after all, as he wore the same look when he was her age.
Honey wasn't the only one who opened up, because soon he did too. He talked about what it was like growing up and how happy he was when he finally got to school, and she liked to hear about it because she could relate. He told her all about the fun things he did with his friends, and she couldn't help but feel like she would have liked them a lot. It made them both sad, but Sirius was happy to talk about it all the same.
When Honey woke up the next morning, she was greeted with the horrifying information that Sirius had been caught. Though, was relieved to find that he escaped. It was the last day of school, so she knew she could always just owl him when she got back home that afternoon to ask him what really happened, considering that the stories varied.
The train ride home was as loud as ever because she and Mable sat with Fred and George. Lee was there too, with Angelina. For once they all got along, and because of this, the twins declared that they all have a big party during the summer. Honey knew that it probably wouldn't be a good idea, but was distracted from that by talk of the quidditch world cup. The twins had been trying to convince her to go with them to it since they found out they were going and had extra tickets, but quidditch had never been her favorite. They understood that, but still wanted her to go with them, and it was clear that they weren't going to give up until she said she would go.
"Have you decided to come with us to the quidditch cup?" Arthur asked her excitedly, as soon as he saw her. They were going to take her and Luna home since her dad was at work, having got back home a few weeks before. The twins smirked, knowing that she would never be able to say no to him. He was just as excited as they were and wanted Honey to share the fun with them.
"That's soooo not fair," She said, pointing to him with a laugh when he and the twins all gave her puppy dog eyes. "Okay! Okay, I'll go!"
The twins started to dance excitedly, while Arthur gave an accomplished smile. He loved Honey just as much as the rest of them and was looking forward to always having her around. He knew Fred had a thing for her, and just hoped that he didn't mess anything up with her.
Luna was going to the cup with her friend Rolf, who was the son of the famous Newt Scamander. They met in town when he and his father came to investigate some rare animal sighting. She was excited to go because she and Rolf were going to look for wrackspurt.
When she and Luna got home, they both pulled out their painting supplies and set up everything in the living room. They didn't get to spend much time together at school, so they made sure to spend plenty of time together when they got home. She didn't question it when Honey painted Sirius, making him look happy and healthy, coloring him in warm shades. She noticed of course but assumed she just wanted to see what he would look like if he looked whole, which was what she wanted. Even after feeding him for weeks he still looked pale and unhealthy. She remembered his smile though and made sure that she painted it right down to the very last detail.
When Honey got back into her room, she found a letter waiting for her on her bed from Sirius. He explained what happened, with Ron and Harry and Hermione, and told her that he didn't want to lose contact with her, as she had been a great friend to him when he had none. He and Remus Lupin, the previous defense teacher, were staying somewhere remote, but he would try to reply to her as often as he can.
She replied to him with a letter of her own saying that he was glad he still wanted to talk and included the painting she had made of him. Normally she didn't share her art with anyone, but she thought it would cheer him up, for him to see himself as he could be. She asked him not to tell Harry about her, because he hadn't already, and she didn't want the boys to find out she had been hanging out with a supposed mass murderer on a near-daily basis. They wouldn't be very happy to find that out, whether he was innocent or not.
