Love and Sick- (10)

"I love her, and that's the beginning and end of everything." F. Scott Fitzgerald

When Honey woke up the next morning from a rough nights sleep, she decided that it was the perfect time to play with the makeup she had gotten the previous day. She had woken up around ten, so she had plenty of time to kill. She didn't want to try anything too complicated as she was still a beginner, so she just did mascara, foundation, and red/pink lipstick. The lipstick was matte, which was something she wasn't used too.

She was sitting at her mirror, examining how different her face looked when she heard the beaded curtain where her door should be jangle obnoxiously, which more often than not meant that a Weasley was behind it. She let out a small laugh and a come in and was greeted by George poking his head in.

"Hey! Are you busy?" He asked, watching as she put her lipstick down.

"No, why? Where's Fred." She asked, furrowing her eyebrows.

"He's sick and asked for Honey. I didn't know if he meant you or actual Honey so I figured I'd get both." He said with a smirk. She rolled her eyes at him but had started getting ready to leave as soon as the words 'He's sick' came out of his mouth.

"What's wrong with him?" She asked, following him out the door. She wasn't worried about her red lipstick, but about him. The two of them waved at her dad as they walked out, being told she needed to be back by dark, and headed out into the woods.

"He's just running a fever and hurts as far as I know. I'm not going in there and getting sick though." He said, shrugging his shoulders. Honey punched him lightly.

"I'm not scared of your brother's germs, but you are?" She asked,

"You've got a better immune system than me!" He defended. "and I figured if anyone could make him feel a bit better, it would be you."

The rest of the walk there was spent chatting, but they went quiet as they entered the house. Molly would probably try and stop her from going in, but wouldn't if she finds her in there. George stayed behind like he said he would, handing her a bottle of Honey in case he wanted real Honey before she went up the stairs. She let herself in quietly, her eyes instantly focusing on Fred in the dim lighting. He was covered up to the chin under the blankets, looking pale. She put the Honey on the nightstand next to the lit lamp and pressed her lips gently against his forehead, making him move his head away slightly.

"I told you I'm fine." He murmured, not opening his eyes. He probably assumed she was Molly coming in to check on him.

"You're definitely running a fever, Fred." She said, touching the side of his face with her cool hands. He instantly pulled the blanket over his mouth and nose and opened his eyes to look at her. His eyes were drawn to her lips like they always were, but that time they were red instead of pink. It was a different kind of attractive, and he wasn't complaining.

"As much as I want you here, I don't want you to get sick." He said to her, tearing his eyes away from her mouth and into her eyes.

"Shush and sit up." She told him seriously.

She would want cuddles of she were sick, so she assumed he would too. After a moment's hesitation, he did so, scooting over when he did. Honey sat on the bed with her back resting against the headboard and her legs under the covers with him and looked at him expectantly. He gave her a pitiful look and gladly wrapped his arms around her waist and resting his head on her chest, hugging her body tightly. She let her fingers tangle themselves into his hair with a small smile and kissed his head only half intentionally. He sighed contently, and thanked her softly, making her squeeze him tightly in response.

When Molly decided to go check up on Fred, she wished she could say she was surprised to see Honey there, but she wasn't. They were both fast asleep with Fred in her arms, and Molly could still see that Fred wasn't feeling well, but at least he looked happy. His pale, freckled face held a soft smile that only Honey, could bring. She wondered how long it would be before they would realize their feelings for each other, but didn't know that they both already had. For Honey, it hasn't been as long since she figured out that she liked him more than a friend, but that couldn't be said for Fred.

Before falling asleep, he came to terms with something he wouldn't allow himself to before. He'd known he liked her for as long as he could remember, but then, he knew that he loved her. She was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with, and he would do whatever it took to make that happen. He would have told her then had he had the strength. He loved her with everything he had, and he knew she didn't feel the same, but she could. He told himself to be bolder. To not stop himself from telling her was beautiful when he thought it, because she was, and needed to know that. He couldn't hide behind his fear of rejection any longer.

Fred woke up two hours later, feeling slightly better being rested and in Honeys arms. She was asleep, he could tell by her steady breathing, so he just laid there and listened to her soft heartbeat. The sound alone made his own heart swell, reminding him of how much he adored her. One look out the window told she would have to go soon, as the light streaming in was orange, and she would have to be home before dark. He was in the process of falling asleep when she left, kissing him on the forehead once more.

Not a week later, the Weasleys were fortunate to win the wizard lotto and were planning to take a trip to Egypt to visit Bill. Molly tried to convince Honey to go along, but she insisted that they go without her. It was their vacation, and as long as they told Bill hello and brought her back a souvenir she would be happy. Fred was feeling completely better again, so that was not an issue when traveling. She ended up having to help the two of them pack because Molly was busy and they had no idea what they needed. They promised to write to her, which they had never done since she lived so close, and send her lots of pictures.
