That December was colder than most, and had Honey been feeling better she would have had the boys out on the ice in a heartbeat, though they probably wouldn't able too, not with Umbridge. She had begun making crazy rules, and finding something fun to do was nearly impossible, and so was learning. They hadn't pulled out their wands that entire year to her theory that kids could learn from theory, and that was why they started their own defense club. Do to Honey's inability to lie, she had no idea where the meetings were held, not for sure at least do to the fact she was always walked there with a blindfold. She found it more fun than it sounded, oddly enough. Normally Fred walked with her, using the map to make sure that no one was nearby to question her blindness, but they decided to switch it up one day and she ended up walking with Mable.
Walking with the blindfold was a bad idea, they all knew it, but it was the best they could do under the circumstances. She needed to learn while she could just like the rest of them, and it gave them a little piece of mind to know that she was still using magic. Mable looked down at the map to see Mcgonnagal coming down the hallway and took the blindfold off Honey in an instant. She played it off well enough, as she put it into her pocket hastily while they continued to walk and Mcgonnagal joined them on the staircase.
"Good evening, ladies," She said, eyeing them suspiciously.
"Professor," They both greeted happily. Honey looked better that day than most, and her smile came more easily.
"I hope you don't mind telling me where-" She started, noticing that they were headed away from their commons.
She never finished her sentence because Honey had suddenly lost her balance and gone toppling down the last few stairs. Before either of them could do anything, she had reached the bottom step and her head had hit the floor with a sickening sound.
Everything after that happened quickly for them all. Honey was taken to the infirmary and Mable faster than she ever had before to get Fred and George, who were already in the room of requirement waiting for them. They all felt so scared, more so than they ever had before, because Mable was in a state of panic when she got to them and could hardly explain what happened. They were supposed to learn to cast a Patronus but after that none of them could even muster up a smile, because they were all so worried about her. Ginny had stayed behind with Ron, who both just sat there next to each other in a state of shock.
Fred, George, and Mable all made themselves comfortable outside the closed doors of the hospital wing. Something was wrong and they weren't allowed inside to see her, which wasn't good news. Normally Madam Pomfrey had things under control. When the door finally opened, they all sprang to their feet and followed McGonnagal to where Honey was unconscious in bed, with a large gash still in her forehead.
"What's wrong?" Fred asked instantly, "Why haven't you healed her yet?"
"The magic I typically use to heal these kinds of wounds isn't working," Madam Pomfrey said, coming closer followed by another healer, one from the hospital. "I've allowed you in to see her before they take her to St. Mungo's."
Without another word, Mable and George each took her hand for a moment, and Fred kissed her softly on the forehead, and they took a step back from her. They wanted her to be healed as soon as possible, and that meant letting them do their job.
Just when it felt like things couldn't get any worse, the Weasley's got word the next night that their father had been attacked. They were all ushed into Dumbledore's office and transported to Grimuled place with little to no explanation why. Harry was the first one to speak, to Remus as he was the only one in the living room with them.
"Where's Sirius?" He asked instantly, not understanding why he wasn't there as well. He was always there.
"He's at St. Mungo's with Honey," He told him, as everyone sat down.
"Is she alright? Is dad alright?" The twins asked anxiously.
"I have not been told of your father's condition, but I can tell you Honey is fine," He told them, which made them relax a little. A least, until he continued. "Well I mean she's fine-ish."
"What is fine ish?" Fred asked him angrily.
"It's actually quite complicated. Have you ever heard of amnesia?" He asked them curiously. None of them answered, but he knew Hermione knew the answer. "Hermione?"
"It's when muggles hit their head really hard, and lose their memory," She said, "But wizards don't get it. It's one of those things that-"
"Our magic protects us from," Remus finished for her.
"So she lost her memory?" Fred asked, looking more pale and confused than before, which was saying something.
"We have pinpointed her last memory to sometime after Christmas," He told them. "During her fifth year."
"That was two years ago!" George said surprised,
"We'll take you to see her in the morning, and I'm sure you'll see your father then too."
They got word from their mother that night that their father was okay, and that they could come and visit in the morning. She also told them that Charlie and Bill were there as well, and would be staying with Honey so they didn't have to worry. She figured Remus had told them about what was going on with her, but she just left it at that. They would see her for themselves soon enough.
The went to their father first and were relieved to see him in high spirits. Bill was there, but Charlie wasn't, meaning that he was with Honey. After a little while of visiting, the order wanted to talk to him about what happened, so they all stepped outside. Fred and George passed a pair of their extendable ears to the rest of the kids, telling them only that they wanted to know what they heard, before leaving to go find Honey.
NOTE: This is a sort lived thing, I promise, and will be done by the next chapter. I don't typically go this route with stories, because I don't like to read it, but there is an intended purpose for it. Don't forget to comment❤️
