Little Hints

I sat in the seat in the back of Algebra. 1st and 2nd classes were boring. Especially 1st. Everyone was loud. It made me have a headache. A student walks in. In fact, she was the one I bumped into earlier morning. She sits next to me, "Hello again. Clay? Was it?"
"Yup. And you are?.."
"Nevada. Also known as Pink." She smiles and brushes her long mid orange blonde hair to the side, "I'm Shadow's friend. Er..Rikkun." I nod. She did once mentioned about someone named "Pink".
"How did you two meet?" I asked.
"Ha! Through Playstation," she laughs, "She was so clingy she could've been my sister."
Her smile fades.
She's on the tapes, is she not? Her eyes look around the class. "Is everything fine?" I ask. What a question. I'm so stupid. She must've been on the tapes, maybe something triggered her. Or maybe I'm overthinking. Maybe I haven't gotten to her tape yet..
She blinks, "Yeah I'm fine. Just..you."
"Me?"
She rolls her eyes, "yeah you. You've done your things."
"No?.."
She sighs, "Clay, if you meant what you said, would she still be here?"
Her green eyes dimmed a little. What did I say?  "Look, Clay, I know about the tapes. In case you're wondering. You're one of them-"
"Why am I on them?"
I cut her off completely almost making my hand slam against the desk. "I can't say."
I groaned, annoyed. "What number am I?"
She shrugs. She isn't going to tell me anything.
"Why did she make the tapes?" I asked.
She sighs heavily, "She felt better not feeling anything as she talks. So, poems turn to stories, and stories turn to those tapes. Sketches to drawings then to stories but as hints," she pauses for a moment, "Rikkun showed so much. Yet no one helped."
I close my eyes. Why did no one help? Wasn't I helping?..
"Caleb."
I open my eyes and look to Nevada.
"Meet me at the old apartments around Tex. Avenue. Maybe around after school today?"
"Uh..sure. What about?"
"School is no place for Rikkun. And you know it."
That is right. Rikkun never did like school as much anymore. She'd always say things like "Can the school just blow up?" "I'd join the school shooter" "I want to go home". Things like that. I remember..
And I feel stupid for not helping more. So stupid.
So stupid.
So stupid.
The class starts. But I really don't want to do anything. I want answers. I need answers. I might as well listen to the tape. At least a little..
I place my earbuds in. And push Play.
