I speed up to him and jump into his open arms, his body spinning me around as I planted my lips on his. The smile would not leave my lips as we continue to keep our lips attached as he places me back down.
"What are you doing here?" A wide grin spreads across my face as I keep my arms around his torso.
"Thought I'd come and surprise my beautiful girlfriend before she starts college"
"I really missed you Joel" I lean my head against his chest as I take in his scent from his hoodie.
"I missed you too Maya" he says before placing a soft kiss on my head.
We stay standing there in each other's arms just enjoying the moment. It was now that I realized how much I missed Joel. I missed his touch, I missed his voice and I missed his presence.
"As much as I'd like to stay here, we really have to get going. I want to show you my university" I smiled up at him.
"Well then, lead the way"
Hand in hand, walking out of the room, I show Joel around the whole campus. I also had the chance to explore for it myself since it was my first time being here too. The two of us decide to get some food and head back to my room again.
"So I'm guessing you're not allowed to stay the night?" I ask, taking a seat on my bed as Joel follows.
"I wish I could babe. These past few months have been so hard for me. I don't ever want to spend another day away from you even though I have no choice".
The sun was setting which meant Joel had to leave.
"Before I go, I have something for you. Close your eyes and hold out your hand" he says.
I did as I was told and held out my right hand. I felt a chain of cold metal being placed into my palms and when I was told, I opened my eyes.
"Oh my gosh Joel this is beautiful"
I lift up the beautiful diamond necklace that had been placed onto my hand and just take in the beauty of it. Joel volunteers to place it around my neck and I gladly accept.
"Now for my last surprise, I have this" he pulls out a small brown diary handing it over to me.
"What's this?" I open the book to Joel's writing on several pages.
"Well when I'm on tour and travelling, I write down my thoughts, experiences and other stuff on it. I want you to have it"
My face shoots up to make eye contact with him and I was lost for words.
"A-are you sure?" I stutter. "I mean that's a big step you're taking, this must be something personal to you"
"It is, that's why I want you to have it. I trust you with my life Maya and you can continue to write in it if you want"
"Thank you Joel" I embrace him into a hug and stay there for a while before pulling away. "I'll guard it with my life".
Joel stands up to leave and I offer to walk him to the front gate where his ride would be waiting. Saying our final goodbyes, I give him one last goodbye embrace and he jumped into his ride and drives away.
7:30 am
The sound of my alarm going off is painfully piercing through my ears. I groan while burying my head into my pillow trying to drown out the noise. Today was our official first day of college and I was both nervous and excited.
"Rise and shine sleeping beauty" Bailey yells as she walks out of the bathroom after a shower.
"How are you up so early?" Shutting off my alarm, I manag to drag myself out of bed.
"Practice"
After my shower, I dry my hair and pull out a simple outfit to wear to class. Being proud of my decision I pull out my phone and snapchatted a selfie to Joel.

Finishing up my last slice of toast, I grab my bag and Bailey and I head out towards our first class. We were both aiming for a different bachelor's degree so there was no way we'd be in each other's classes. My first class is in a lecture hall which was almost the size of half a stadium. I feel my heart race as I was being overwhelmed by the amount of people in this room.
"First time here?" I hear a deep husky voice behind me
"Huh?" I turn around. "Oh yeah, first time here, deciding where to sit"
I was turned to face a boy with black hair and deep brown eyes. He seems about six feet and was wearing a plaid opened t shirt with a singlet top underneath.
"I'm Daniel" he smiled at me.
"I'm Maya"
The two of us take a seat next to each other as the teacher enters and starts the lesson. My fingers were speeding away on the keyboard of my laptop as I was taking down minor notes. The one-hour lecture seemed to go by quite fast and before I knew it, people were already filing out of the room chatting away.
"So, Maya, since you're new here maybe I can show you around? I know how nerve wrecking it can be on the first day" Daniel offers.
"Actually, thank you for the offer but I was just thinking of heading back to my room to rest up and maybe fill in some study time. But, thank you" I say again.
He let me go while I walk back into the direction of my room. On the way I see a brochure that was stuck onto the walls. It's for this year's cheerleading squad for the University's sports teams. Seeing as I already had past experience, I feel confident about trying out for it again. Auditions were in a few days and I was pumped. Bailey still hasn't arrived from class yet so I make myself comfortable into my bed.
9:57pm
By now, I have already had two classes today. It's not as bad as I was expecting it to be but I knew the stress would build on as weeks would go by. Brushing my hair into a bun, I notice Joel's diary laid out onto the table. Picking it up, I grab a pen and open up to an empty page.
"So Maya, I have to ask; see any guys you think are cute yet?" Bailey asks before I had the chance to start writing.
"Actually, I already have a man. He visited me yesterday on campus, I think you might have missed him since you weren't nearby otherwise I would have introduced you guys. His name's Joel"
"Joel who?" Her head shoots up in concern.
I showed her a photo of Joel and I on my phone and her jaw suddenly drops to the ground.
"Oh my gosh, you're that Maya?" She practically screams.
"Wait, I'm confused?" I ask.
"The thing is, people have been talking around campus about you. Word has been going around that the girlfriend of a celebrity would be attending this campus. I wasn't sure what her name was but now I definitely know who they were talking about" she finishes off.
A lump in my stomach suddenly grows. I have a feeling this year would be a lot longer than I had thought.
