"I can't keep lying to him like this. He deserves to know that truth" I tell Ingrid as the two of us were sitting in the backseat, on our way to the boys show.
"Maya, I've been saving your butt in every situation possible and I'll continue to do so. The only reason I'm stopping you from opening your mouth now is because you're going to regret it" she replies.
Both our eyes were on Joel, who was sitting ahead of us with the rest of the boys. As soon as we had reached our destination, we hopped out of the car and made our way backstage, following the boys.
"The worst part is, we didn't even get the chance to snoop through Ambers room when the opportunity was right there. I'm running out of excuses to tell Joel and sooner or later the truth is going to come blurting out of my mouth" I softly say to Ingrid.
"Can you keep your voice down at least?"
We were walking right behind the boys in a hallway that echoed every small and low voice. Amber had already reached here early to set up since she was the one of the many people helping the boys get ready for their show.
"Hey you" Joel approaches me with a warm smile as soon as we had entered the room to get them ready.
He didn't even realize I had been walking right behind him the whole time. I didn't even have to say anything, I just greeted him with a kiss and followed him to where Amber was sitting, ready for one of the boys. In front of the mirror with fifty make up products spread out, I sat on the arm of the chair of the empty seat that was next to Joel's.
"Thank you for coming, I know you must get insanely bored back here with nothing to do for so many hours" he puts his hand on my thigh as Amber had began combing out his hair.
As if on purpose she was running her fingers through his black curls unnecessarily. No stylist in the world does that to their clients, I don't know who she's trying to fool because I can see right through her.
"It's not that bad, I always have Ingrid to annoy if I get bored. Plus, it's not every day I get to support my talented boyfriend" I lean in to give Joel another peck.
I could just see the jealousy oozing out of Amber.
"Even if he does wear more makeup than me" I turn to the side, picking up some products.
"Hey" he playfully slaps my arm as I begin to laugh.
"Look here Joey" Amber demands, coming in front of his face with an eyelash curler in her hand.
Joey? Who does she think she is?
I wanted to hold Joel's hand desperately but I couldn't. My hands have been sitting in the pockets of my hoodie I was wearing, ever since I left the hotel. He hasn't asked about my ring and that is why I'm afraid to take out my bare hands. Joel was finished getting ready by Amber and personally, I wanted to get out of there as fast as I could.
"See you in a few hours?" Joel leans down and kisses my cheek while buttoning up his shirt.
"Mhm" I smiled, nodding my head.
"Sad isn't it?" I hear Ambers voice behind me as soon as Joel had left.
"What are you talking about?" I look back at her.
"You two are one step away from being a married couple yet, you can't even bring yourself to be honest about one small ring. Imagine how life after marriage would be if you keep up that childish behaviour" she shakes her head.
"Amber honey" I turn my body around so it's facing her completely. "You should be praying on your knees every night that you don't get sent home from tour, yet again. I can easily prove that you stole someone's ring which is pathetic if you ask me. You're a girl who has everything yet you go chasing after other people's things because you can't control your jealousy issues"
