I stood nervously waiting for Cameron to come back to the shed that night. I kept looking out the window, watching the sun sinking lower and lower. Finally I heard the locks click.

I stood solemnly as Cameron walked in the door. He smiled at me while Hannah's dad untied his hands.

"Hey, beautiful." He held his arms out for a hug.

I waved my hands. I pointed towards the bathroom. "Bathroom."

He scrunched his face and looked at me worried.

He followed me to the bathroom. I closed the door behind him.

"Is there something I should be worried about, Kate?"

I pulled off my tank top.

"What..." "Oh my gosh..." His eyes widened to the size of saucers. "Kate, what happened?"

I gulped. "I tried to warn you about Hannah." I looked glumly at the floor.

"She did this to you!" He yelled. "She's going to have to deal with me tomorrow!"

I grabbed his shoulders. "No, you can't!" "She will just get worse."

He turned around and punched the bathroom door. "I can't have her hurting you like this." He set his head on the door.

I rested my hand on his shoulder. "Cam, you don't understand."

He turned around. "What do I not understand about this, Kate?" "She beat up my girlfriend!"

I laughed. "I'm your girlfriend now?"

He smiled nervously. "I mean, only if you want to be."

"Sure, Cameron." "I mean, I never pictured being asked out in a bathroom, or really at all in this situation." "But, sure." I pecked him quickly on the lips. "But, this is serious." I took a breath. "She kicked me because she wanted you to no longer be attracted to me."

"Really?" "She did this to you because of me?" He ran his hand through his hair. He threw his hands up. "I don't get it!" "Why is she doing this?"

"I don't know, Cam." I turned around to grab my shirt off of the bathroom counter.

"I didn't know you had that one." I felt Cameron poke my back, between my shoulder blades.

"Yeah." I turned around blushing. "It was kind of a fangirl, stupid decision."

"I think it's really beautiful, but it looks familiar." He smiled at me, cocking his head to the side.

I rubbed my neck. "Well, that's because it's the carnation from the cover of Shawn's In My Blood album." I pulled my tank top on.

"He probably be happy to know you liked his album enough to get part of the cover tattooed on your body." He chuckled.

"Hey, I told you it was a stupid fangirl decision." I playfully smack his chest. "He's like my favorite singer."

"Well than first thing when we get out of here, I'm going to give him a call and you're gonna meet him."

I smiled at the floor.

Cameron put his finger under my chin and lifted it.

I looked into his bright brown eyes. "I'm going to get you out of here."

"We should probably come out of the bathroom." "Hannah might lock me in the closet again."

Cameron squeezed my hand. "Ok." He said softly.

That night we laughed while we made alfredo pasta and drank Gatorade. We debated how soft noodles should really be. We told each other funny childhood stories. For the rest of the night, neither of us mentioned Hannah. It was a beautiful night and it was one that was an actual glimmer of hope in all of the darkness.

That night I couldn't get over how Cameron smiled at me. I had seen his smile before in pictures, in his videos. I had seen him smile at the fans who found him in that LA club we met in. But none of those smiles were the smile that he had when he was with me. It was genuine and beautiful. It was like a rainbow shining through a window on a sunny day.

I loved Cam, and I wanted to live every day like that night.
