Chapter 52

Tears ran down my cheeks soaking my gown and his shirt. I sobbed gently while he held me in an embrace.

"Kate, I can't believe it!" Cameron held my face in his hands. "You're awake." "I've missed you so much."

"Breathe." I smiled.

"I've been here every day." "I met your mom and your sister." "Kate, you're here!" He hugged me again."

"I really thought." I cleared my throat and winced from the pain. "I died."

"You were just in a coma for a while, while your body replenished its blood and nutrient supply." He kissed my hand. "I'm so glad you're here again."

I wiped my tears with the sheet. "I've missed you."

He nodded. "I bought us an apartment for when you get out."

I smiled. "The nurse mentioned." I took a deep breath. I really wanted to talk but my throat was really sore and I was still really weak.

"So, Hannah's currently in prison awaiting trial." "They've been pushing the trial back until they can get all of the evidence, and that includes talking to you."

I nodded.

"They had a funeral for Hannah's dad." "There was a protest and a lot of fallout because they wanted to say that he was also a criminal for holding us captive." "The amount of press conferences I had to sit through to try to explain that he was as much a victim as we were." He rolled his eyes.

"Marriage?"

He sighed. "In the process of getting it annulled." "They're being weird about it." "They still want Hannah to sign off on the divorce for it to be official."

I shook my head.

"Yeah, I got pretty mad and told them she's never going to sign the papers because she's obsessed with my but they still want to do it their way."

I held up my hand and pointed at the silver ring on my finger.

"I promise it'll happen." He kissed me. "No matter what."

I nodded. "I love you." My voice cracked.

He laid down next to me on the bed. "I love you too." He kissed my hand. "We'll get our forever, and Hannah will stay in jail where she can't hurt you, I promise."

I turned my head to face him and tried to blink back tears. He wiped them with his thumb and kissed me gently on my nose.
