I laid there on the couch pretending to sleep while Hannah's dad unlocked the door.

"Don't worry, Hannah's still in the house." "You can come see Cameron." Hannah's dad said from the door.

I sat up in a hurry and ran over to the door. I jumped into Cam's arms as his hands were untied.

He caught me and swung me around. "You're back!"

"I'll leave you guys, but remember." Hannah's dad pointed up at the camera. "No audio, and she doesn't watch all the time, but I'd still be careful."

Cameron set me down lightly on my feet. He wrapped his arm around my waist. "We will." He smiled at Hannah's dad. "Good night."

He nodded and locked the door.

Cameron turned to face me and wrapped his other arm around my waist.

I held his face in my hands. "I missed you."

"I guarantee I missed you more." He leaned in and touched my nose with his.

I kissed him lightly. I pulled back and twirled to show him my outfit. "Thank you for the clothes by the way."

He laughed. "Yeah, I had to beg pretty hard for those." He held my hand and twirled me. "But you look very cute."

I blushed. "Why thank you."

We sat for an hour, coloring on the couch talking about his day with Hannah.

I turned to look at him. I placed my hand on his knee. "How about we don't talk about Hannah, or the closet or any of that stuff anymore?" I leaned back against the back of the couch. "How about we only talk about us?" "How about we pretend like none of the rest of the stuff exists?"

Cameron looked at me with his bright brown eyes. "That sounds like a great idea." He picked up my legs and set them on his lap. "I say, it's just you and me living in a little house from now on." "We're here for each other and nothing else matters."

I reached out and held his hand. "That sounds like a deal."

We spent the rest of the night laughing and crying, talking about the past. We talked about how we met.

"I still don't know why you would decide to take me to the lounge."

"Maybe." He rubbed my calf. "I was just absolutely captivated by you." "Maybe I loved your laugh and your taste for Shirley Temples and pineapple pizza."

"Ok, well I'm kind of 18 so it's not like I was going to be drinking anything stronger."

"I did offer to buy you a drink."

"And what did I tell you."

"You said I'd rather have a dance." "And then you totally winked at the bartender."

"Hey we were fast friends and I knew him and the DJ were buds."

"I knew you called for that slow song to be played!"

"Ok, well maybe Roses is one of my favorite songs, Cam."

"It is a good song." "I know Shawn."

"You know everybody, Cam." "MagCon was pretty wild."

"It was a lot of fun."

"You were my age now." "I think that's the most insane thing, y'all seemed like fifteen."

"Well, Nash and Matthew were sixteen."

I nodded. "True." "Shawn was fifteen to."

"Yeah."

"So I guess that means you were just the big brother of the group."

He laughed. "Pretty much." "Someone had to keep those clowns in line."

"I still don't know how Vine died with people like you guys on it." I laughed.

Cameron sighed. "Oh simpler times." "But, we'll have a big reunion when we get out of this." "I want you to meet all of the guys."

I looked at the floor sadly. "I don't know, Cam."

He reached for my hand. "Hey, what's wrong?"

I took a deep breath and played with the cushion fabric. "It turns out Hannah has a history of being very violent."

Cameron looked at me confused. "What do you mean?"

"She stabbed her dad!" "That's why he listens to her." I put my head between my knees and held my face with my hands. "He showed me the scar today as we walked back here."

"Ok, but I don't think she'd really hurt you." Cameron rubbed my shoulder.

"How do you know Cam?" "You know she never wanted me here..."

Cameron pulled me closer to him and held me on his lap. "I'll protect you." He ran his hand over my hair. "I won't let her hurt you."

I rested my head on his chest. I sat there listening to his heartbeat, slow and steady. I relaxed until I finally fell asleep in his arms.

I had always desired to have someone who'd protect me. I always wanted a love as strong as the one Cameron and I shared but never thought I actually find it. Especially not at eighteen in a shed in the middle of the Nevada desert.
