chapter 23 - slipped out

~Johnny's POV~
i thought i was dreaming because Kenzie hugged me. i smiled and hugged her back. she didn't let go and she didn't flinch at all. I'm so glad she's improving and healing around me with touch. it's amazing how much she trusts me already. i was interrupted by her voice
K: Johnny?
J: yeah?
K: I'm scared
J: everything is going to be okay Kenzie i promise. you'll come to my house and and we'll talk and figure everything out. don't stress about it
K: okay
she said softly cause her voice was getting hoarse
J: come on let's get out of here
i pulled away from her and she pulled away from me and we walked out the hospital and got into the car. i knew my mom was about to ask me like a million questions like always. she always freaks out when any of us even gets a cold
M: are you okay sweetie? how are you feeling? did they treat you right? how did everything go?
didn't i tell you. she asks so many questions
J: mom I'm fine, i feel fine, they treated me very well and everything went fine so enough with the questions
M: okay good
my mom drove off and Kenzie laid her head on my shoulder and i smiled at her and she closed her eyes and i assumed she had fallen asleep
~Kenzie's POV~
i laid my head on him. he smiled at me and i closed my eyes but i wasn't going to sleep. everything was just so calm and peaceful i was enjoying it. Johnny gently kissed my forehead and i smiled and he started stroking my hair which i absolutely loved. with Johnny i just felt safe and calm and happy for once. my thoughts were interrupted by Johnny's mom
M: aw John you two are so cute together
J: we're not dating mom
M: well it's obvious you two like each other
J: yeah i really like Kenzie but i don't have a chance with her
L: it's obviously she likes you and she trusts you more than anybody else
J: she knows i won't hurt her Lauren. of course she can trust me. i can't believe anyone could do such a cruel thing to her like that
M: what are you talking about?
L: yeah what happened with Kenzie?
oh crap Johnny why did you have to say something. please don't tell them. no one else can know the truth
~Johnny's POV~
oh crap what am i going to do? i didn't mean to say anything. it just slipped out. do i tell them the truth?
J: i...
what will Johnny say?
