(A/N- So this is the beginning of some drama.  This chapter and the next one was hard for me to write because, like Mila, my own Father is a douche who doesn't care about any of his children.  Like her, I don't like see him either.  So yeah, here is the beginning.  Happy then oh damn.)

The house was officially unpacked, deep cleaned and the new furniture had arrived while the lightly used went to a family who needed it. Outside there was now a beautiful patio table and chair set sitting nicely underneath the archway across the yard along with an "outdoor lounge" set around the fire pit. To Mila the only thing that was missing was Loki and Lilith. It was a little over a week since they had placed their application for the two dogs and much to her dismay, no call had come in. She had hoped they would be present on the day of their housewarming cookout to meet their friends and family but instead the animals were probably lonely at the shelter in their cage.

"Mike, why does Mila look like someone told her that her dog just died?" Mari asked him standing in between him and his parents. Mike, who held Quinn in his arms, turned looking at his girlfriend seeing that while she was sitting with the wives of the band, Makaila, Jecca and Cata, she wasn't actually there. She was sort of just staring off in the distance.

"We looked at a couple of dogs last week and fell in love with them. I put in an application for us to adopt them and she thinks we still haven't heard back," He told her seeing the smiles the moms offered him as he kissed the top of Quinn's head while she laid it down underneath his chin. "But we did and Caleb is bringing them anytime now. I wanted to surprise her."

"She's going to cry when she sees them," His mom said earning a nod from her son. "Then she's going to kill you for not telling her sooner."

Mike smirked running his hand over the toddler's back. "It'll be worth it if she's happy."

"Oh Mike," Mari chuckled shaking her head. "I swear no one will ever care for my daughter like you do. There is no one else out there who will have Mila sit miserable just to know that she will be surprised and so happy when she finally receives a gift. I don't think anyone is also brave enough to handle the wrath my daughter can have when something is kept from her."

"I have longer legs. I can outrun her," He laughed along with the parents. "That's what I'm hoping anyway. I don't know though, she's in better shape than me."

"I wish you luck, Son," Muto told him placing a hand onto his shoulder pointing to the man who was making his way into the backyard. Mike turned seeing Caleb there with a smile on his face waving at him. He excused himself handing off Quinn to her grandmother getting a whine in response as he went to hug his friend who finally arrived at the party.

"Does she know anything yet?" Caleb asked him walking back into the home with Mike who shook his head. "I have Mark with me. He's with them in the car placing bows on them. Those are some well behaved dogs. I was tempted to steal them."

"Mila would have your neck if you did instead of mine," Mike said smiling at the other man who entered the home with their two dogs who were both excited to see him. He knelt down giving them some love before standing up again. "Alright, I'm going to go out there and announce I have a gift for her. Then you guys can come out."

"Sounds good, man," Mark nodded handing Caleb one of the leashes. Mike walked back into his backyard looking around at all their friends and family while also trying to find the fastest way if needed to get away when he had to.

"Can I have everyone's attention?" He asked loudly.

"Mike wants attention. That's new," Dave laughed gaining the same from the guests.
