You were that foundation

The days leading up to Mila's birthday, good ole October thirteenth, were interesting to say the least. It began by Mike asking if she could take the actual day of her birthday either off completely or at least the afternoon off and when Mila attempted to hold a cookout the weekend following the day of her birth, mostly everyone had plans. Of course Mila was a smart woman and figured there was probably more going on than she was at liberty to know. So she left it alone.

When the morning of her birthday arrived, Mila woke up alone in bed. A pout automatically formed to her lips upon seeing this. Mike nor the dogs were in the room which meant they had gotten up and started their day without including her. Mila contemplated getting up and taking a shower, but instead cuddled into Mike's pillow enjoying the scent it had to offer stretching out in the bed feeling sleep beginning to beg her to allow it to take over. As if knowing this may happen, the door to their room opened showing Mike coming into where she was with a tray of food.

"Happy birthday, Cams," He smiled seeing her awake laying across the bed. Carefully, he made his way closer placing the tray over her legs once she sat up on her side. Mila looked over the spread that greeted her hungry eyes. French toast, fresh fruit, coffee and water all sitting nicely on the wooden holder.

"This looks delicious. Thank you, Handsome."

"You're welcome," Mike replied taking a seat on his side keeping her company while she ate her birthday breakfast.

"So what are the plans for today? I imagine there is one if I had to take the day off," Mila mentioned taking a sip of the coffee on the tray.

"Maybe," He said dragging out the word receiving an eye roll in response. "We do have to get ready after you eat and head out though. We have an appointment at eleven."

"'An appointment'? Where?"

Mike shook his head motioning him locking his lips. She sighed piercing a pineapple chunk with her fork bringing it to her mouth. A smirk couldn't help but form on his lips seeing that Mila was progressively getting annoyed. Surprises were not something she enjoyed at all. She had to know what was going on and prepare for them. Mike also knew though that she could handle what was going on today.

Even though Mila had mentioned two possible event spots for their wedding, he had noticed that she continuously went to one more than the other when looking at them online. Today, they would be going there to take a tour, discuss overall plans and if all worked out, book it for their wedding day. He knew that weddings took a bit to plan and everything came down to a location. The sooner they choose the location for their ceremony and reception, the sooner they can begin the rest of their planning. Mike wanted to know as soon as possible the day of their wedding for his own schedule and honestly looked forward to the day they would vow their lives together.

Once Mila was finished, he left her alone to get ready while he cleared the dishes and took care of the dogs. It didn't take long for her to meet him downstairs and them to be on their way. Mike was pretty aware of the directions after checking them over and also doing a test drive the day before their appointment, nothing that she knew about of course. The drive wasn't all that bad, it took roughly two hours, but once they were there it was worth keeping it from her to see the look on her face.

"Are we really checking this place out?" Mila asked smiling at the man next to her who pulled into the lot the person on the phone had told him to go to.

"Absolutely," Mike nodded turning the car off. "You may have suggested both places, but I've noticed you going to this website the most. So I scheduled for us to have a tour and consultation. If all goes well, then we will book a date for our wedding." The smile that was spread on Mila's lips widened as she leaned across the center console kissing him. "Are you ready to go and see when our wedding will happen?"
