"Oh my god," Mila breathed smiling. She hadn't expected it. Never in a millions years would she have thought he would be meeting her at the airport when she landed in Charlotte. Yet there he was, smile and all, waiting for her with George by his side as she made her way towards baggage claim.
In the weeks leading up to her flying out, Mila had been busy with work even more thanks to the new Therapist, Geoffrey. She didn't find mentoring new hires to be all that bad usually. Most of the new hires would end up becoming her friend at some point and she genuinely enjoyed helping them out. He on the other hand, was different. Mila had a hard time putting her finger on it, but there was something off about him. At first, she thought he was just a really nice guy and then the odd moments began. She would be mentoring him about whatever needed to be discussed whether it be paperwork or billing information and he would commented something random about his life. Sure, she didn't mind her co-workers talking about themselves, but his comments were not just every day stuff. Geoffrey has mentioned how his ex dumped him before he got this job, how he's lonely, the attractive females in the office etc. All were things that made her feel just a bit uncomfortable. Being that she's in this profession and a pro essentially at discussing feelings, she voiced this to him only to have him dismiss it. Needless to say, she was thankful for time away.
Mike held his arms open upon seeing his girlfriend weaving in and out of people practically running towards him. Mila dropped her bag as gently as she could by her side while throwing herself into his awaiting arms. The feeling of her running a hand over the back of his hat covered head was the only thing he cared about besides her in his arms. It was comforting to him after three weeks spent away from her on one of the most humid tours he's played. He let his eyes close as he held her close to him taking in the scents that always reminded him of her.
"I can't believe you're here. I was fine getting to the place by myself," Mila told him turning her head placing it into the crook of his neck.
"I was free and there was no way I'd miss this opportunity to surprise you here," He replied rubbing her back soothingly. "I'm so stoked you're here."
Mila pulled back smiling taking in the calm and relaxed, but also tired look on his face. "For two whole weeks."
"That's the best news I've heard so far," Mike sighed pressing his lips to her forehead. "Let's get your bag so we can head back."
With his hand entwined in hers, they made their way to the conveyor belt that slowly brought all the passengers bags into the building. Mila smiled at the other man who was close by holding her hand up for him to slap. George smiled back placing his hand onto hers telling her it was 'great to see you again'. She replied the same nodding prior to spotting her bag coming from outside and making its way slowly towards them. Mike reached a hand out grabbing onto it pulling it onto the floor before pulling the handle up allowing him to roll it behind him. The ride to the Amphitheatre didn't take as long as Mila thought it would and unlike when she arrived without him, the 'all clear' didn't take longer than a couple of seconds. The weather outside was pretty much what Mila had expected. Hot and humid. Thankfully for her, she had done research on what the weather was like in each destination and packed accordingly. For the first day on the tour she had chosen jean shorts, a tank top and converse sneakers. Mila wasn't one for short or revealing tops. It's never been her style, but she didn't mind if her shorts were on the shorter side and her top a bit flowy or tight depending on her mood.
After her bag was secure with his in the compartment on the bus and her 'All Access' pass obtained that not only held her name, but also 'Family' once again written on it, the couple took a few minutes alone in the cool bus. Mila cuddled into his side while he leaned back on one of the couches in the front of the bus. One of each of their arms wrapped around the other while the other held hands. Using their hands that were connected, Mike nudged Mila's chin up allowing him access to the lips he has missed. The kiss started out gentle gradually getting more intense as the seconds passed.
