(A/N- Last update for today. Potentially another on Sunday.)
Mila and Mike smiled as they greeted the guests at their wedding shower that was being held in Mari's backyard. It was a beautiful July day in California, the sun was shining and the temperature was just warm enough that people didn't have to worry about the possibility of passing out from the heat the state was known for. The guests included the immediate families of the couples, some of the extended families that were invited to the wedding, the bandmates with their wives and some close friends. Mila was honestly happy that it wasn't an overly huge affair because she had ensured that her wedding wasn't going to be that way and the last thing she wanted was for the wedding shower to be just that.
Mila looked down at her white flowy top, jean shorts and all white converse feeling comfortable. Of course, when she had told her mom she didn't want the occasion to be dressy and she didn't want to wear a white dress, Mari made sure to get her a sash that said 'Bride-to-be' written on it. That was the only thing about her outfit that wasn't comfortable but her Mom compromised so she would wear it. Mike wore a similar outfit but a nice black polo shirt, jeans and all black sneakers. She told him he could wear a hat but he refused. Mari ended up giving him sunglasses that said 'groom' on them. Again, tacky, but a compromise.
She felt an arm wrap around her shoulders as she took a break from greeting her guests. Turning her head to her right, she was met by Chester and Nikki who had finally arrived.
"Hey Bestie," He smiled wrapping his arms around her while she hugged him before moving to her cousin. "Sorry we're late."
"It's fine," Mila smiled seeing the couple reconnect their hands. "You haven't missed much but Mike and I greeting everyone. Donna and mom are making sure everyone is getting food and are happy while Muto is grilling. So make sure you guys eat before the Mom brigade comes for you."
Chester and Nikki laughed spotting Mike walking over to them giving hugs once he arrived. The couples stood around talking about Mike's album, how Chester's other band was going, Nikki and Mila's work and countless other things. It didn't take long for more friends and the siblings to join them causing a pretty big circle around them of many people talking. Everyone was laughing and joking around making the atmosphere light and fun. Mila couldn't help but smile realizing that this is how their wedding's vibe would. No drama or fighting, just love and laughter. Everything that they had hoped would happen by keeping it small.
"Mily," Jason called out to her after him leaving the group a couple of minutes prior. "Stop rolling your eyes and come here."
"I wasn't even rolling them," She laughed walking to where he was standing alone in the middle of the yard getting an arm wrapped around her shoulders. He led them through the side gate to the yard and stopped when at the side of the house.
"Before I hand over what I have for you, just know that I am not taking it back. Understood?" Jay asked her getting a confused nod in response. "Mily...Mila, you have been a big part of my life since I was a snot nosed little brat. How you put up with me, I will never know. But you always talked Mike into letting me hang out with you guys and have always there for me. It didn't matter how big or how small, hell, you even talk to me at the ass crack of dawn if I call. You have always been someone I looked up to and someone I considered family. I don't blame Mike for falling for you and wanting to be with you as much as he does because if I were straight I would too." Mila chuckled shaking her head. "I wanted to get you something that maybe you would consider wearing the day of the wedding since I love you and you deserve to have something like this gifted to you." Mila regained her confused look until he took out a decent sized jewelry box from his pocket. "Remember what I said, I'm not taking it back."
