Luke draws on a random sheet of paper he's pulled from his bag. It started life as a mere doodle but now it's a life drawing of Isaac Raine, a boy in Luke's English class and a member of the school's AFL team. He happens to be sitting a couple of rows in front and to the right of Luke which gives him a perfect view of his ass...

"F. Scott Fitzgerald. Famously handsome, and The Great Gatsby." Luke's teacher holds the book in the air as if they all didn't realise which book they should be reading. "Which captures a particular yearning. Now what do I mean by that, hmmm?"

Luke shades in Isaac's naked ass with a finger, smudging the pencil marks to soften the lines. He may be fully clothed here in class but Luke's drawn him naked from behind, sitting on a stool. Chloe quietly giggles as she looks across, seeing what Luke's up to.

"Luke?" His teacher picks on him, just as he smiles at Chloe's reaction. The whole class turns to look at him, including Isaac. He just hopes no-one notices the drawing on his desk.

"Yearning," he stammers a little before his brain kicks into gear. "Yearning's when you want something really badly..." like he wants sex, it's a feeling he's constantly trying to ignore but it won't go away, "...like...so badly it hurts."

His teacher beams, "Exactly. It needs to hurt to be worthy of the word, otherwise it's just wanting. As represented in the Gatsby by a green light over the water. You can see it..." Luke looks over to Isaac, his hand hovering over his drawing, "...but you can't touch it."

Isaac, bored by the class, starts kicking the chair of the student in front of him, in full view of his teacher, "Mr Raine! Mr Raine, are your parents really paying for you to have yet another testosterone outburst?"

"I wasn't doing anything!"

"Exactly. But you will be after school."

"I have football practice!"

"Not today. Today you'll be cleaning out the athletic room."

Luke watches Isaac's reaction to his punishment with interest, a thought occurring to him.

The teacher drones on, "The only thing we fight about in this room Mr Raine, is interpretation."

"Mrs Williams, we're going to work. If you want you can call me on my mobile if..."

"They said he took an overdose of a drug I don't know the name of," interrupting Calum, Sam's mum both sounds and looks defeated.

"He wasn't a drug user," Corey's quick to reassure her.

"He must have met someone that night, and took him home." Calum explainers, suddenly very grateful for his Mum, and her knowing all about his lifestyle. If the roles were reversed, she wouldn't be looking at his friends in shock like Sam's mum is looking at them right now.

"May I ask you something Calum? If my son had been straight, if he had taken a woman home, do you think she would have run off and left him there to die?"

Grabbing her handbag before he can even think to form an answer, Sam's mum hurries up the corridor away from them, as if she can't bear to be around them for a minute longer.

Banging the hockey equipment bags down on the table in front of him Isaac begins to check them.

"Need some help?" Turning around, he scowls when he sees Luke standing there.

"This sucks."

"Yeah. They need you at practice."
