"I told you I'm not going."
Michael puts out two bowls of cereal on his kitchen counter, a little haphazardly but it is early and he wasn't expecting Geordie and Gus to turn up and start to bug him. Alright, Gus is asleep in his car seat but still it's too fucking early for this shit and before he's even had his morning coffee too.
"I promised him you'd be there!"
"Well, you need to stop making promises that I can't keep!" Michael says, his head stuck in the fridge looking for milk.
"Hey! Don't be a shit! I'm just trying to clean up some of your mess!" Geordie objects, watching Michael slop milk all over the counter as he pours some into each bowl.
"He's the one who threw himself at me. I'm trying to get rid of him!" He says, bleary-eyed.
"Tell that to the judge," Geordie swipes the milk carton off Michael before he makes any more mess.
"When did you start sounding like your girlfriend?" Michael asks, throwing bits of rogue cereal into each bowl.
Geordie changes tack, "It's time you started to become part of the community."
"Just because I fuck guys does not mean I'm part of some community," Michael retorts. "And it doesn't mean I have anything in common with someone else who does.
"You know it's more than that," Geordie says quietly for emphasis. "We need to take care of each other."
"I don't need to take care of anyone and I don't need anyone to take care of me," Michael takes his coffee mug and walks off, away from the lecture.
"One day you might!" she calls.
"Fuck groups!"
"I thought you did?"
"Occasionally," conceds Michael, "But it's by invitation only."

Roger's playing a selection of well know classical pieces on the piano as Chloe walks by, her head stuck in the catalogue of the art show.
"Did you see this?" she waves the catalogue at Luke, "They're charging a hundred dollars for every one of your drawings. You could be rich!"
"It's for charity," he explains, "I don't get to keep it."
Chloe pulls a face and then pulls a different one when she sees Luke checking out the entrance to the Gay and Lesbian Centre over her right shoulder for what feels like the hundredth time that day.
"And would you stop watching the door?!" she chides him.

"He plays beautifully doesn't he?" Sam asks Corey who's standing next to him, leaning against the grand piano looking at the art work nearby.
"I'm all a-tingle," Corey says caustically. "So have you two had sex yet?"
"No!" hisses Sam, grabbing Corey by the arm and dragging him away to a safe distance. "Would you keep your voice down?"
"Well, when are you?"
Sam sighs, "When we both know it's the right thing to do."
"Sex is never the right thing to do!" Corey cries, his voice carrying way too far for Sam's liking. "Feeding the poor is the right thing to do, helping the disabled is the right thing to do, giving blood is the right thing to do..."
"Alright you made your point," says a rattled Sam, hoping he'll shut up.
~~~
"Everyone loves your drawings!" cooes Geordie, taking Luke's arm as she comes up behind him.
