Uncle Connor

Maple's mother, Carly and Zoe exchanged numbers for the kids and we left. The whole walk home Oakley couldn't stop talking about how excited he was.

"She was so nice! She didn't care how awkward I am and she stood up for me and everything"! Oakley said almost bouncing up and down in his stroller

"She stood up for you"? Zoe asked

"Yeah, there was this really mean kid who was picking on me. Maple made him stop".

Zoe looked to me almost angry with the thought someone was picking on our son. I then remembered I had to work late tonight.

"Zo, I have to work tonight so are you going to be around for, Oakley"?

"Evan, I have all that paper work two do. I need to go into my office to finish all of it".

"Hmm, what's Connor doing"? I asked wondering if maybe Connor could watch him

"I'm not sure, I could call him".

"Uncle Connor?! Yay"!

Zoe smiled down at Oakley.

ZOE'S POV
It always makes me happy to see Oakley and Connor together. Connor truely is an amazing Uncle. I pulled out my phone and called Connor.

"Hey, Zoe"! He greeted

"Hey, would is be to much trouble for you to watch Oakley tonight? Both Evan and I have to work late".

"Sure, what time"?

"Around... say.. 7:30"?

"Yeah, works for me. Is he going to stay the night with me"?

"If that's okay"?

"Yep, just checking". Connor chuckles

"Thank you so much, Connor"! I sighed in relief

"Anytime, Zo".

We hung up and then nodded to Evan showing Connor said yes.

"Hey, bud. Wanna stay with Uncle Connor tonight"? Evan asked

"Yeah"!

I chuckled and kissed Evan's cheek as we arrived home. I took Oakley by the hand and lead him inside. He ran off to play.

I felt a hand slide around my waist. Evan gently layed his head on mine. I always loved his touch.

"I'm going to miss you tonight, baby". Evan whispered in my ear

"Me too". I felt a small feeling of fear

Evan must have noticed.

"Evan, I never like leaving him. Maybe it's because I'm being to much of a Mom... but, still".

Evan's concerned look became more pleased.

"It's okay, Zo. It's normal for parents to worry. I mean, it only makes since, right? Oakley is going to be fine, he'll be with Connor".

"I know but, he's our little guy.... when I don't know when he needs me... I begin to worry more".

"Zoe, your not always going to be able to be there when he's upset. If you always were... then how would he learn to deal with things on his own"?

"Since when did you become so good with these kinds of things? Just last week you called me from the store all freaked out because you couldn't remember what kind of juice Oakley likes the most".

"Well, I didn't want to disappoint him. Anyway, try not to worry so much. This is good practice for when Oakley starts preschool". Evan said

"Oh don't remind me". I groaned
