The doctor was keeping Oakley at a very strict sleeping and eating schedule. Soon, Oakley had enough energy to get up and walk around. It took a good couple of days, almost 2 weeks to be exact.

The doctor had talked to Zoe and Evan about Oakley having to go through a physical to see if he is eligible to race in the states. At first Zoe was completely against Oakley ever racing again, I just caused way too much pain and worry as a mother. However, Zoe understands how important it is for Oakley to race. It is his dream that he has worked so hard for and, what kind of mother would she be if she stood in the way of her son's dream?

The still doesn't take away from her worry and doubt. Evan on the other hand, still holds the same amount of belief in his son as he did before he got into the car that night. Yes, Evan is still incredibly concerned and worried for his son's well-being but he doesn't believe something like this will ever happen again.

Throughout the week, the family had visited Oakley almost everyday. Cynthia and Larry had stayed with Zoe and Evan the entirety of the time Oakley was in the hospital. The scars on Oakley's face are still very much present. The scars will forever reside on Oakley's face.

Finally the last day of Oakley being in the hospital had come. The last step would be the physical. Everything was going great, Oakley had great vision, had great hearing, but when it came to checking his heartbeat an issue arose.

His heartbeat wasn't beating in a regular pattern. Obviously this caused some concern for the doctor. Oakley's eyes widened with concern as well, what was happening? Something was wrong with his heart?!

"What's wrong"?! Oakley said with his voice quivering

"Don't worry, just relax and we'll figure it out". The nurse soothed

This only worried Oakley more. How could she just tell him to calm down?! It's not like it's her life that this is affecting. Zoe grabbed Oakley's hand to try to calm him because his worry was only causing more complications.

"Breath honey". Zoe spoke to him as if he was a baby again

"Mama, what if I'm not okay"! The sixteen-year-old cried

"You're going to be just fine, bud. Look at me and don't look away. We're here for you no matter what happens". Evan gave a faint smile

Oakley returned that faint smile with much hope that his father was right. Strummer sat in the corner trying to hide his worry. Strummer is supposed to be the brave one. He's not supposed to worry, he's supposed to be the one to laugh in the face of danger, he's always been the one that didn't care. Now that he watches his big brother cry, it causes Strummer to remember that life is unpredictable.

"Breath Oakley". The doctor reminded

"I-I'm trying! I-I can't"! Oakley felt his entire body begin to shake. His limbs then turned numb. He felt cold and the voices of his parents and the doctors became muffled.

Soon enough the light in the room disappeared. Oakley felt like he was being crushed, like there was a pounding on his chest. That's because there was, the doctors desperately try to revive Oakley.

The room turned from a slight worry to a frantic collection of emotion.

"Oakley! Baby, come on.. wake up. Please! Don't leave us"! Zoe bawled

Evan stood frozen in the corner of the room. His own body shook as he watched his son slowly fade away. The doctor pounded on Oakleys chest frantically trying with all of his well-being to start his heart beat once again.

"Come on, kid! Come back to us! Clara, we're losing him"!

"Oh my god, no"! Zoe howled through the air

Strummer stood distantly away in the corner as tears rolled from his cheeks. His big brother, his best friend, his partner in crime was slowly fading right before his eyes. He didn't even understand what was going on. It all happened so fast. Maybe they should have watched him closer...

Oakley's limp body fell back on the bed. Out of his coat pocket fell a bottle of pills. Before the doctors and his parents had arrived, only minutes before now, Oakley swallowed an entire bottle of pills.

Something that was never talked about was Oakley's depression. No one seemed to notice, or no one seemed to care. Then again how can you really blame anyone when Oakley didn't say anything. Was he afraid? Did he think no one would take him seriously? Or, was all some cruel sick plan made by God or whoever you believe in.

All those years ago, it was going to be Connor. However, Evan had saved him. Right when Connor thought he had absolutely no one on the planet, there stood Evan in the darkness. It was supposed to be Connor, but it wasn't so, maybe it had to be Oakley.

Is it possible that it was just destined to happen to somebody in this family? They say depression and anxiety is genetic is this really true or is it just a myth? Either way, Oakley had taken the one chance that he had. He was in the hospital surrounded by medication that could easily end his life in minutes.... so that's what he did.

He was hurt, he was broken, and he was scared. The family ached inside and out. But, there's still time left, can they save him?

: End of book 1! There will be a book 2 in the future! However, I am taking a short Hiatus from the story for a while. Sorry about the cliffhanger LOL.

There is a whole new story in the works, that I am super excited for and hope you will check it out! It's another Dear Evan Hansen fanfic! It's called, "Tree Boy, I think I Love You". It's a Evan Hansen X character story but with a little bit of a twist.
