(This will be my first chapter in the chain of chapters written in a One Shot form. If you'd like more chapters based on the boys younger lives, let me know. I'd be happy to make a separate One Shot book just based on the boys)
"Everything has to be perfect, Zoe"! Evan freaked out
"Huh? Why are you so worried all of the sudden? Baby, calm down. It's just his second birthday party... nothing.... nothing to worry about". Zoe said
"You're worrying now too, aren't you"?
"Yes! The cake is supposed to be delivered by now"! Zoe freaked out
The brothers were in the living room watching TV. Strummer couldn't care less about what day it was, in fact he was completely oblivious to what day it really was. Oakley was just happy to see the family, especially Connor.
"Strum! It's SpongeBob"! Oakley said showing Strummer one of there favorite cartoons, this cartoon was one Zoe was kind of strict on. She doesn't like when the boys watch it on there own.
"HEY, you can't talk to my grandson like that! Someone ought to put you in a mental hospital"! The old grandma fish shouted
"Someone ought to put you in a box floating down the river grandma"! Plankton responded back
"Heehee"! Oakley laughed as Strummer smiled wide.
This was one of there favorite, and Zoe's least favorite lines from the show. However, Zoe is to preoccupied to care about what show her boys are watching at the moment.
"Wanna see something cool"? Oakley asked Strummer
Oakley gently took the hand of his baby brother and lead him up the stairs to Zoe and Evan's room. The door was open slightly with there bed made and curtains drawn.
"Don't tell Mommy and Daddy, okay"? Oakley said seriously
Strummer just looked blankly at his brother, almost like he's sarcastically saying
"Really? You think I'm going to talk"?
The brothers entered the closet and sat underneath all of Zoe and Evan's neatly hung clothes. In the back corner of this certain closet, there was a flashlight in case of emergency.
Oakley pulled the stick of light out and turned it on. It shined through the clothes hanging high above there heads. Oakley then shut the closet doors to make it darker. The two boys sat in this pitch black closet shining a flashlight around.
"Uh.. Z-Zoe"? Evan started to speak
"What's wrong"?
"Have you seen the boys"?
"They were in the living room... where did they go"?! Zoe's stress immediately got the best of her, tears started to rush down her face.
"Oh no, please don't cry babe. I know todays been stressful but I highly doubt the boys aren't in the house somewhere".
The parents rushed through the bottom floor of the house shouting two names.
"OAKLEY CONNOR"?!
"STRUMMER MATTHEW"?!
"Don't panic, Zo. You check our room and I'll check there rooms". Evan soothed
Zoe nodded trying to calm herself down. She stepped into the room looking around desperately. She then heard a giggle from the closet. An immediate sigh of relief escaped Zoe's mouth. Zoe walked to the closet door and pulled it open.
She found Strummer sitting in Oakley's lap. They both looked up at her and smiled. Zoe returned there smile
"Come on, goofballs. Let's go have some cake".
Zoe took Oakley in her left hand and Strummer in her right. They found Evan standing in the hallway still looking around.
"Oh good! You found them"! Was Evan's response
Suddenly a voice boomed through the house. A voice that everyone knew very well.
"Uncle Connor"! Oakley shouted running to meet him and his girlfriend, Cady. (Teehee, who likes the Mean Girls Musical?!)
"Hey boys! Happy Birthday, Strum-master"!
Connor lifted Strummer onto his hip and tickled him. A joy ful laugh filled the house.
"Hi, Oakley"! Cady greeted the now 6 year old
"Hi! Cady! You came to see us"!
"I did! You know I love you boys"!
After another hour, everyone else had arrived. The cake got delivered perfectly on time.
It was then present time.
Cynthia and Larry went first, as they had volunteered to have Strummer open there gift.
Strummer sat on Zoe's lap in the middle of the living room floor. She helped him tear through the wrapping paper to reveal a set of clothes, nothing overally wild, just some much appreciated hoodies, jeans, and even an adorable pair of little sneakers.
Heidi went next. She went a little above and beyond this year, not as much as Connor usually did. She got him his first tri-cycle. A blue and red Big Wheel along with a helmet that looks like a shark.
Next was Connor and Cady's gift, well gifts. They had each gotten him one thing. Cady got him a huge playset for Paw Patrol. Connor got him his favorite gift out of them all, his first guitar. It was obviously made for kids and wasn't an actual working guitar but, it reminded Strummer of his Mom and he loved it.
Zoe and Evan's gift was something that Strummer and Oakley hated at first but was the sole reason they grew so close.... They had to start sharing a room.
Zoe needed her home office back, which had been moved to make room for a nursery, but now that Strummer is getting a little older it's not needed anymore. Zoe misses her office so much and Oakley's room is so big so there will definitely be enough room.
The arrangements were being made, once again by Zoe's design team the next day.
