Strummer Speaks!

"Come on, Sweetie. Say Nana"! Cynthia exclaimed as she sat on the floor next to Strummer who gave no cares about anything.

"Good luck on that, Mom. He's shown no signs of wanting to talk at all". Zoe chuckled

"He's going to talk eventually. Who says his first word won't be Nana". Cynthia smiled

"I guess it could be anything really. As long as Jared doesn't influence him in anyway"! Evan laughed while shooting a playfully glare towards Jared who was just visiting

"Ah come on, Ev. I wouldn't do anything like that. That'll be horrible". A concerning chuckle escaped Jared's mouth

Oakley was playing with his trucks in the other room. Everyone's attention was on Strummer like always anyways. Oakley did miss the spotlight but at the same time, it gives him more freedom now. Now Oakley can play in his room, all by himself.

"Oatie! Lunch is ready"! Evan called

"Is Uncle Connor and Auntie Caddie here yet"?! Oakley asked frantically

Much like Damian and Janis, Oakley calls Cady Caddie. She doesn't mind and actually finds it adorable.

"Not yet. They'll be here soon".

Oakley made his way to the kitchen table where Zoe started making him and Strummer's plates. Cynthia picked up Strummer and brought him to the kitchen as well.

"I'm sorry it's nothing fansy, I just wanted to make something simple today". Zoe stresses

She was referring to the food, just some Sandwiches.

"Don't worry about it, sweetheart. It looks delicious". Cynthia smiled

Zoe chuckled at her enthusiasm over sandwiches. Everyone started eating and talking about nothing the 6 year old cared about. Strummer didn't care either but it's not like he'd be contributing anything to the conversation anyway.

"Mommy, can I be done"? Oakley asked

"You didn't even eat, bud. Can you at least try ti finish half of your sandwich"?

"But.. I'm not hungry. I wanna go play"! Oakley whined

"Don't whine, eat your food, dude". Evan instructed

Oakley huffed before the conversation driffed back to work. Oakley just sat there pouting, he wasn't hungry so why was he being forced to eat?

"Oakley, are you done being sassy yet"? Zoe questioned raising an eyebrow

"I'm not! I'm not hungry! I wanna be done"! Oakley raised his voice

"Woah Mr, you're getting a little to big for your britches there". Zoe warned

"I JUST WANT TO BE DONE"! Oakley yelled

He suddenly felt himself being picked up from the kitchen chair. Zoe had enough of his attitude today, he had been extremely rude.

"I want you to sit in time out until I tell you you can get up. Until then I will not hear you talking, and I will not see you playing or letting your butt leave this chair, got it"? Zoe scolded

"....." The boy didn't respond

"Oakley Connor, I asked you a question".

"I got it". He whimpered

Mommy was being so unfair, Oakley thought. What did he do so wrong? He just didn't want to eat! Now he's in trouble and isn't going to be able to play when Uncle Connor and Auntie Caddie got there.

Only about 10 minutes later, everyone finished eating. Strummer ran back into the living room. His tiny barefeet made noise against the hard wood floor. Oakley continued to pout.

"Mommy... can I get up now"? Oakley asked

"Are you going to apologize for giving sas"?

"....."

"Then no, no you may not".

Deep down, it hurt Zoe to be so hard on Oakley. She didn't want to be, she felt like she had to be. How else was he going to learn for when he's in school. He has to learn to do what other adults ask of him, even if he doesn't want to.

A few minutes later, Connor and Cady showed up at the front door. Oakley started to seat hover in excitement. Soon enough he dashed towards Connor and Cady.

"Oakley Connor"! Evan shouted

He didn't listen, he couldn't care less about what his parents had to say about this. Some of his favorite people where here, it's like dangling raw meat in front of a shark.

"Oakley! Get over here, now"! Zoe yelled

"NO"! Oakley screamed

"OAKLEY CONNOR, I AM NOT PLAYING GAMES WITH YOU"! Zoe was livid

"I HATE YOU"! Oakley screamed

Zoe marched towards him, the child knew immediately, he messed up. He awoke the beast! Evan was kind of looking the other way. Connor was even getting scared. Zoe would never ever hit her kids but... a good screaming lecture isn't out of the question.

Zoe picked up Oakley and carried him up to his room swiftly. Strummer looked wided eyed. He felt tears starting. Eventually Zoe came back down and Strummer ran to her.

"Hi, baby boy. I'm sorry if Mommy scared you".

"Bro"? Strummer whined
