Family's Reaction

Evan stayed silent, taking in his son's every movement. Evan remembers this all happening before with Oakley. It's just as surreal and beautiful the 2nd time. Next to Evan sat the four year old Oakley. There was something about actually seeing his baby brother, a possible feeling of glee as well as amazement.

There he was, Strummer Hansen.

"Do you think my baby brother will like Go-Karts"?! Oakley asked as he jumped around the living room.

"He might, you'll just have to wait and see". Evan chuckled

Connor was holding a dinner party to celebrate his new job. Connor finally got the job he's always dreamed of, and the job that he went to college for. Auto mechanics.

This party was when Zoe and Evan were planning on telling the family. Oakley had been told to stay completely quiet about his brother. It's been so hard for the child.

As they pulled up to Connor's, Zoe's heart fluttered with the same two emotions she's been feeling for months now, excitement and worry. A gentle touch on her hand forced her attention away from her thoughts and onto Evan. He smiled sweetly telling her everything is going to be okay.

Zoe let Oakley out and he ran immediately to the front door of Connor's house. Once they were greeted inside they realized that everyone was already there.

"Mom? I didn't know you were going to be here, how are you"?! Evan hugged her tightly

"Connor invited me, it's so good to see you"!

"You too"!

After the friendly exchange with his mother, Evan greeted Connor, Cynthia and Larry. The anticipation was eating the couple away. They could hardly wait for dinner to tell everyone.

In the meantime, Oakley played with the toys in the toy box he had made him, along with the toys Zoe packed for him. Zoe had been wearing really baggie hoodies to hide her belly bump. They decided to wait a while longer before they told them about the pregnancy. For Oakley, they were just so excited, they didn't want to wait.

Now Zoe knows how everyone treats her while she's pregnant. She doesn't want people thinking she can't do anything on her own just because she's pregnant. The only person who doesn't treat her like she's unable is Evan and Connor. Zoe didn't tell Connor yet because he doesn't keep big secrets well. He doesn't mean to let it slip, it just happens.

"Connor, congrats on your new job"! Zoe exclaimed

"Thanks, Zo. It's a dream come true. I actually have a surprise for Oakley".

"Connor, I swear if you spend any---"! Zoe was cut off

"Don't worry! It's actually a side project for me. I'm building him a Go-Kart".

"A what now"? Evan asked snapping back to reality

"A Go-Kart. Don't tell him yet, it will be a while before it's done".

Zoe and Evan just dropped it, knowing Connor wouldn't do this if he didn't want to. Soon dinner was officially done, the whole family was called to the table to eat. Half way through the dinner Evan nudged Zoe carefully to see if she was ready to tell. A nod was all Zoe returned before linking arms with Evan and standing up.

"I'm so glad everyone is here for our news". Zoe started

"So... Zoe and I have been really excited about this and are ready to finally tell you guys". Evan smiled

"What's going on"? Larry questioned

"I'm pregnant". Zoe said simply as a teary eyed smile broke onto her already red face.

"Oh my gosh! Sweetheart, that's amazing"! Cynthia exclaimed as she jumped up to engulf her daughter in a hug.

"That's so awesome, guys! I get to be an uncle to another child! Which means... there's going to be another kid who's going to be spoiled by Uncle Connor"! Connor smirked

Heidi wrapped Evan in a sweet hug then she moved to Zoe. Cynthia did the same, moving from Zoe to Evan. Larry was so shocked, he didn't move at first. Soon enough he hugged Evan and kissed Zoe on the cheek.

"How far along are you"? Heidi asked

"Well... far enough to know the gender and to have a bump. I'm in my second trimester".

"You have a bump? How come I didn't notice"?! Cynthia gasped

"I've been wearing really baggie hoodies to hide it. Everyone at work thinks I've just had a really bad cold for... the last couple of months". Zoe chuckled

"You said you know the gender"? Connor questioned

"We do". Evan confirmed

"And we know the name... well the first name, we don't have a middle name yet". Zoe said feeling an excited smile pull at her face

"Can you tell us? Or is it a secret like last time"? Larry asked

Evan looked to Zoe for her thoughts. She nodded agreeing they could know. Oakley jumped up to his Mom.

"Mommy! Can I tell them"?! He asked

"Sure baby, you can do the honors"!

"I'm gunna have a baby brother"! Oakley exclaimed, jumping excitedly

"Another boy! That's so adorable"! Heidi gushed

"Name"? Larry smiled

"Well... he's name is an interesting one. It means something very important to Zoe and... I think it's the most adorable name ever because yours truly came up with it"! Evan jokingly gloated

"His name is Strummer. You strum a guitar". Zoe explained

The woman in the room awed to show how they felt about the name. Larry nodded in approval and Connor said

"Yes! Great name"!

"The only think now is a middle name".

The room fell silent as they all tried to think of one.

"I know one"! Oakley smiled

"Huh? A name"? Evan asked him

"Uh-huh"!

"Well what is it, bud"?

"Matthew! Strummer Matthew Hansen"!

A surprised look immediately rushed to everyones faces. No one expected the 4-year old to give a good name suggestion.

"Why do you say Matthew"? Zoe asked

"Well, my teacher went online and told us what our names mean! I don't know a Matthew but she has a kid named it. It means, gift from god".

"I love it, Oakley... you just named your baby brother". Zoe chuckled in mostly disbelief

"Strummer Matthew Hansen... I just want to keep saying it. It's so adorable"! Cynthia exclaimed
