Evan and Zoe's Sad Attempt at Having a Date Day Together

Zoe watched as Oakley went off with Cohen as if nothing had happened. It made her smile knowing that this will hopefully be something he can grow from and that makes him stronger.

Evan kissed Zoe's cheek before taking her hand in his own. Zoe turned her attention immediately to Evan, cupping his face with her hands, Zoe then smiled sweetly and said

"I hope you didn't plan on going into work today because..... I have a whole day of just you and I planned".

"What.. really? What brought this on"?

"Maybe I just want to have some alone time with my sexy husband".

"Sexy? Well... I would hardly consider myself that. I'm a lot of things but... I don't think sexy is on that list".

"Evan... honey, I'm trying to flirt here and you're making it really difficult".

"Sorry! Okay, a day of just you and I... bring it on"!

"That's the spirit! Let's go". Zoe took her husband's hand in hers and walked him back to the car. She kept an excited smile on her face as she drove.

"Uh.. babe, where are we going"? Evan questioned

"It's a surprise"!

"Ooooh, not murderous at all"! Evan joked

"Shut up, we're almost there anyway"!

The couple pulled up to a mall.

"The mall? I thought is was going to be... you know, fun"? Evan whined

"Don't worry, it will be! Stop whining"!

"Ugh... fine, but I get a iced coffee after this"! Evan playfully pouted as he climbed out of the car

"What ever you want". Zoe smiled while locking the car.

They walked hand in hand to the entrance of the mall. Zoe seemed to know exactly where she wanted to go so, she dragged the man around the large building.

"No! I don't want to go into Victoria Secret"! Evan said pulling against Zoe's grasp

"We're not! Calm down. I'm not going to put you through that again". Zoe giggled

Evan took a verbal sigh of relief before Zoe sat him down on a bench near an inside plant.

"Okay, if we're not here so you can drag me into girly clothing stores then... why are we here"?

"Because they have an ice cream parlor giving out free samples of ice cream today only"!

"Ice cream? You've never been a huge ice cream eater".

"Well... uh... today I feel up to it"!

Evan was very confused but went along with it. The couple walked to the open space that had stands of free ice cream.

"Zo, my stomach hurts"! Evan whined as he set his bowl of butterscotch ice cream down on the bench

"Yeah, I guess I'm good too. Thanks for doing his with me. It means a lot". Zoe's eyes started to water

"Huh? Why are you sad? You wouldn't think I'd tell you no, right? I know I joke about you dragging me places but... truth is.. I don't care what we do as long as we're together".

The woman looked deep into Evan's dark eyes and smiled. Tears slowly rolled from her eyes.

"I have one more place I want us to go".

Zoe took Evan's hand and lead him back through the mall to the car. The drive was silent but not uncomfortable. They pulled up to the old apple orchard, the same place Evan had figured out Oakley's name.

"The Orchard"? Evan questioned. "We haven't been here in years".

"I know... that's why I figured it was time for us to visit again".

They walked through the trees as Evan took it all in. He loved the trees, flowers, air... everything except him and Zoe seemed to disappear here.

Then it came into view, the tall Oak tree. The tree that determined their first childs name. It stood tall but held a sense of gentleness to it.

"Today was nice". Evan said hugging Zoe tightly as they sat under the tree like they were in high school again.

"It's not over yet".

"What do you mean"? Evan asked

"Well---"

*Ring* Evan's phone interrupted the moment.

"Sorry, it's Connor".

Zoe's smiled faded away as she listened to Evan greet her brother.

"What really? No way! I'll be right there"! Evan shouted as he stood up quickly

"Come on, Zo"!

"Woah, hold on! What happened"?!

"Connor called and said that there having a huge showcase at the new Orchard. They planted all of these new trees and if you pay money, you can get a tree named after you! You get a birth certificate for the tree too and it's gets it own ingraving with your name so no one ever forgets what the trees name is"!

Zoe wanted to be upset at him but as she stood watching him bounce with excitement... she gave in. She never could get angry at Evan for his love for nature. It was one of the things that made him so sweet.

I'll just wait to tell him I'm pregnant, Zoe thought.
