Telling The Family

FLASHBACK CHAPTER, TO ZOE AND EVAN TELLING THEIR FAMILIES THAT ZOE IS PREGNANT

EVAN'S POV
I held Zoe's hand tightly as we drove to surprise my mother. Mom had been busy with her new job and hasn't been able to come see the new house Zoe and I just moved into. A few months ago, Zoe found out she was pregnant... she's into her 2nd trimester.

This is the time they say it's okay to start telling people about the pregnancy. Although the idea of being a Dad terrified me, I was excited to give my child what I never had growing up. I held the wheel tightly as Zoe read through some texts on her phone.

"Hey Evan"? Zoe started as she turned off her screen and put her head back against the seat

"Yeah, baby"? I questioned still deep into my thoughts

"What do you think the gender of the baby's going to be"?

I hadn't thought about that. I've been still trying to get used to the idea of being a Dad that... I guess if I would be having a boy or a girl didn't exactly enter my thought process.

"Um.. well.. I think a girl". I said suddenly feeling really sure of my awnser

"Really? I'm thinking a boy. I just have this feeling..". Zoe chuckled

"What do you mean... a feeling"?

"Maybe it's a mother's instinct... I feel almost 100 % sure that we have a little guy in here". Zoe said playfully pointing to her belly bump that had just started showing through her clothes

I laughed out loud at her goofyness.

"I don't know... I'm still saying girl. I have a feeling too and maybe it's a father's instinct". I said gazing over at my wife, who'd I just married last year

"We'll just have to wait and see".

Finally we pulled up to my childhood home. Zoe went to get out before I stopped her.

"Are we just going to... just like... tell her? Without any cool presentation"? I asked looking towards the house

"Well, we didn't really plan anything so.... what did you have in mind"? Zoe asked me confused and a bit amused.

"Well... maybe we could show her the picture of the baby... like the one from the doctors. You have it on your phone right"?

"Yeah, so I just hand it to her and say 'Here Heidi, this is a baby, can you guess if it's ours or not'. I don't necessarily think she's going to fall for that". Zoe says sarcastically laughing at me

"No, we're not going to play Guess Who's Baby This Is, that would be rediculous"! I played along

"You're adorable". Zoe smiled kissing my cheek

"I k-know. Anyway, just hand her the phone when I tell you.... it will be awesome"! I laughed like a little kid

"Sure, whatever you say".

We approached the front door and I knocked. I held Zoe's hand in mine. She chuckled at my grab being bringing my hand to her lips and kissing it.

My mother opened the door and almost brokedown from the surprise visit.

"Oh Evan, Zoe.. this is an amazing surprise! Come in, Come in". Mom welcomed us

"It's good to see you again, Heidi". Zoe chirped happily

"You as well, sweetheart! Everytime I see you, you just get more and more gorgeous".

Zoe blushed a bright red
